jeans and body type
Permalink Closed

I did a quick search, and I don't think this has been done in one poll before. I think it would be great to hear what everyone's best-fitting jeans are based on their body type. ?? Anyone agree? Plus, it's really time for me to stock up on jeans!

Okay, so I am 5'7" and I usually wear heels with my jeans. I have a normal butt, thinner thighs, and a huuuuuge tummy. Joe's socialites are my all-time favorite. I've had decent luck with 7s, but they're always too long and I'm too lazy to have anything altered, so I have one pair that I wear with majorly high heels.

I am 5'9" and i have a bigger butt and thighs but a flat tummy.  I love sevens and COH.  True Religions look really bad on me for some reason too which makes me sad =(

I'm 5'4" and I love citizens ingrids and fayes (i prefer rigid styles) and salt works avenue a and orchard st.  I tried some TR rigid joeys on the other day and thought they were cute on.  I like sevens too.  I've tried paper denim and AG and both of them look terrible on me.  Next stop: R & R

Forgot to give my body type:  I have a butt, hips proportional with my shoulders, and an average tummy and thighs.  Nothing flat on my body! (not the bottom half anyway. . .)

I have wiiide hips and a butt and a normal tummy, and normal thighs. I'm 5'7 but love my jeans long.

My R&R skynards are AMAZING! I have a pair of COH ingrids that I love, and a pair of James jeans that are cute with lower heels (they arent that long). Oh, and have you heard of Blue 2's? I have a pair and they make me look sooo skinny!!

This is a good idea! I'm short (5'2) so any jean I buy has to be altered in length, even if I want to wear them with 4" heels. I have a proportional, smallish build, but larger thighs (shoulders 36, waist 25.5, hips 36, upper thigh 21). I usually wear a 27 but I often have to size up in Seven's.

All Salt Works cuts fit me well, but Orchard St is my favorite. Joe's also fit me well, but the Rockers are not as flattering on me as most other cuts and the Socialites are my favorite. AG's are also flattering on me, but I haven't bought any yet. I also love Seven Dojo's. The A pockets aren't bad either, but there's such a big difference in fit between washes. I was trying them on the other day, and in some washes a 27 fit well but was a bit loose in the waist, but in other washes I couldn't get a 28 over my thighs. Big Star is also a good fit

Sadly, True Religion does not work for me and Rock and Republic doesn't really either (although I haven't tried the Scorpions yet...I love these jeans but I know I'll probably be disappointed). COH is not unflattering on me, but they're not the best fit either.

I'm 5' 3.5.  Always need to get R jeans altered.  Shorts or petities run just too short.

I have big hips and a tummy pouch (my own fault for all the Coke I drink). I have a butt which I usually like (being most Asian girls don't usually have butt or hips).

I'm not at my own place right now so I can't check the style name bt here's my rundown of fave jeans.

For casual & w/ flats, the perfect jeans for me are believe it or not, A&F bootcut.  I find there is enough room in the hips and butt, but they always look flattering and I could wear flats or a 2" heel.

COH - I have a pair with the trouser kind of waistband and some special stitching in tri color on the front pocket. small "h" embroidery on the back (not the big H).

7 (originals before the "A" on the pockets).  Run smaller and no stretch.  Doesn't sag or get loose either (trust me, you try to fit them after you've gained 5 lbs and its impossible).

Joe's - Okay I have them on and the tag says "Janice/Light B"  and I LOVE these!  I had to buy a size larger but they are soo soft!

TR - a size smaller than usual (YaY) and sooo comfy!  I got them hemmed so I could wear them with low shoes and flats.

I am 5'6" tall.  I am 28 in the natural waist, 38 in the natural hips, 34.5 at the top of my hip.  My thighs are about average.  The only jeans I have found to fit me well are WAl-Mart brand low-rise, boot cut  Levi Strauss.  I love them and they are only $22.  However, I have been obsessed with getting a pair of Seven Pink A Pockets.  I just ordered a pair last weekend and they are supposed to be in on Monday.  I paid half the price the usually go for.  We'll see if they fit.

I'm 5'10 and 1/2 with a long torso. I have a small waist, bigger hips, and pretty average butt and thighs. Since I'm tall, I have to have long length and I don't like too rise because it makes me torso look weirdly long.

I have a pair of Joe's Jeans Socialites in Jagger and I love them so much. They are perfect for everyday wear since they are really comfortable but nice enough to wear dressy because of the cool wash. I really want another pair.

I have COH Kellys, Ingrids, and Naomis. My Kellys are too big, but I like how the leg is bootcut. Ingrids fit great, but I think they may be too flared for wearing dressy. The Naomis are supposed to be more like Ingrids but I think they more like the Ingrids... I love them as dressier jeans because the pockets are hot.

I love True Religions, but have yet to find a pair that works on me.

Sevens also don't do anything on me. I think it's funny they both come from the same designer and fit me SO differently.

Not really designer, but Gap Long and Lean jeans are awesome because they come in 36 inseams, are really flattering, and not too low rise.

I'm 5'6", small waist, long torso, normal butt/hips, bigger thighs.  I love AGs (the really soft ones) and sevens.  True Religion are too low cut on my torso or something- and the washes I tried didn't seam that nice for the money.  COH fits me well too.

I am 5'7, athletic built, with flat tummy but wide hips/thighs (mixed of muscles and genes) I cant fit in any sevens, TR, COH, all those high end jeans! I am so frustrated. They are tiny in thighs area which is why I cant fit in them. (Grr!) I buy Gap jeans in sz 10 and I am hooked on Abercrombie jeans, they match my body type well. I m trying hard to find jeans since they re the staple of my wardrobes. huge help would be appreciated!!!

I am just under 5 foot 6, long in the torso, flat stomach/small waist (24"-25"), average thighs and yeah, I have a little j.Lo thing happening in the butt and 36"-37" hips. The best jeans for my body type (I would describe myself as curvy) are, imo, Rock and Republic. The Scorpions are my favourites. Low-cut jeans work best (anyone with a smaller waist and bigger butt/hips should stay the hell away from high cut jeans). Two other brands that work for me in terms of compatability with my body type are Juicy and Frankie B, although Frankie B can be ridiculously low-cut and I avoid those styles, and some Juicy can be tight in the thighs.

I am 5'7.5", but with long legs (I need a 33-34" inseam.) I am pretty thin (115 lbs) but ruler-shaped. I have skinny legs/thighs, and very little waist/hip definition. I can't wear high rises because they're always too small in the waist and too large at the hip.

The jeans I own the most of are 7s -- I really like the way they fit me, but they are never long enough in my size (26) to wear with heels, so they are always my casual, with-flats jeans. I love my 7 Mias, though, because the inseam is like 35". In terms of fit, the Dojos give me the best illusion of curves.

Others I love: My Salt Works Orchards give me a butt, plus they're really long and soft. I also love my True Religion Bridgets -- they have a nice, tighter fit that seems to simultaneously make me look thinner and like I have a butt.

have you tried 7 Dojos or Citizens Fayes? They are cut wider in the thighs.

ViviDogWear: I'm Asian too and everyone thinks that's not possible because I'm so curvy.

I'm 5' 2.5" and I wear jeans with everything so I need a variety of hem lengths. I complain about having a short torso and short legs, but they're proportional to my height. I have a relatvely small, defined waist, a hint of tummy (from my fat days eating too much roasted pork and rice noodles), hips proportional to shoulders, a perky j. lo. butt and average thighs (maybe err a bit on the large side?)

Most jean companies work on me to some extent. The best cuts for me have consistently been.

  • Seven bootcuts (I do miss my NYD....I lived in them for the 2 1/2 years I had them. Had to hem them 3 inches. The original length was probably 35")

  • AG Angels/AG Legends (great for my curves, always accomodating and so comfy, plus the Legends make my butt look super-perky. Have to hem these, they're usually a 33")

  • True Religion Joeys (I think they work best on people with shorter torsos and some butt action because otherwise the pockets drag on too low. These are my tall boots/heels jeans and I didn't have to hem them since the inseam was 33")

  • Rock and Republic Scorpions (I have yet to see someone look bad in these...they do wonders for the butt and the pockets in front are way fun, but at 35", these have to go the tailor.)

The brands I look s**tfaced in: Blue Cult, Earnest Sewn, PDC, Frankie B, Antik
