Shine on Wool Pants?

I have wool pants (Including BR and Jcrew) and I've never had that happen. Do you dryclean frequently?

yeah, that's from wearing and cleaning. I think the only way to avoid it is to tell the dry cleaner not to press your pants, or to make sure they put a piece of cloth between the pants and the press. That's the only way I know to avoid it. Can you professionally dry clean them less often, and use that Dryell system, and then press the pants yourself? You might not get as sharp a crease, but they won't get shiney.

Lots of fabrics get shiny when ironed at too high a heat. I wonder if the temperature is too high on the pants presser that your cleaner uses? They should use a cloth in between the press and the pants.

I guess I'll have to make a special request next time I go in. I go to a 'discount' place that charges $2.75 per garment. Hopefully they will honor the request.

Oh, and I dry clean after wearing them about 4 times (I don't think that is too often?).

this happens when they've been worn too many times or when they iron them with out putting something on the iron to protect the fabric.
Unfortunatly there isn't anything you can do at this point...time for new replacements.

I remember something from my long-ago sewing days. I think it is possible to diminish the pressing induced shine on wool by using a solution of vinegar and something and roughing up the nap. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I may have a sewing manual around here, so I'll see if I can find out.
