Have any of you tried self cleaning litter boxes? I was looking into a littermaid...does anyone know if they are worth it and actually work well?

I had one and didn't really like it. I was pretty excited about it at first, but ended up getting rid of it.

My cat was scared of it, so she would not use it at first. She finally did use it, what a chore it really was and how gross it was to clean and change those receptical bins...

I just got rid of it.

Me!  Me!  It was Dexters Christmas present from his grandparents 2 years ago .  I like it simply because I do not have the patience to clean his litter box everyday like I should.  He thinks it's great and likes to stand on the end when it goes off so the box can't open.  It is a bit messy, but nothing that a quick vacuum wouldn't fix.

When we first got it, he was scared of it too.  So we unplugged it and sat it right next to his old box.  After a couple days we took away his old box, and after a couple more we plugged it in so it'd go off on it's own.  As I said above, now he thinks that's great fun.

You should get a kid and pay him to do it everyday!

thank goodness I have my son do it, he gets an allowace and thats part of his chore everyday. I have a friend that has one and she loves it. I spent the night at her house a few years back and she warned me about the noise though. Not too loud but you tend to hear it when its working.

why not train your cat to use the potty?! I heard you can.......
