Strictly to satisfy my curiousity (see my post in dating/relationships), how much do you expect to spend on your wedding? Or for married girls, how much did you budget? I just want a vague estimate.

The polls are anonymous so know one has to know who spent what.

Well I haven't begun to even start planning one or to price things but in my area from people my mom knows wedding runs between 10-20K. I'm sure there are weddings that cost more than that in my area but I've never been to one or asked.  I'm going to try to stay near 15K without sacrificing quality.

Edit: after seeing leah's post I just wanted to say this isn't including the honeymoon which will cost alot if gas and the euro doesn't come down in the next 2 years.

ugh. we just did our final budget tallying this weekend and the total is about 45k, including the honeymoon.

we never really planned for it to be this much... in fact, we started with an original budget of 15k, max. things kind of grew from there, especially when my parents got involved and started opening their wallets for things we hadn't originally planned on including. luckily, everything is paid for now, so there won't be any more expenses added!

I know what you mean. We looked at the Inn at Mystic for our wedding and I FELL IN LOVE. But I just knew that if we had it there, I'd have to go into all-out wedding mode. It was a real struggle to scale back. Maybe we can have our 50th wedding anniversary there!

gruiz, i didn't know you were getting married in that area! where did you guys finally decide to have your wedding? the inn is really beautiful and honestly, the reason we are having it there is that my parents fell in love with it! it was visiting that location that made them offer to help us pay for our wedding (for which we are extremely grateful, of course). we loved it too, but it was definitely more of a hoopla wedding location than we were originally planning on! there are tons of beautiful places to get married in new england. i'm anxious to hear where you guys will be getting married!

Oh, I think I'm guilty of the thread hijack (sorry BC)...but I did submit my wedding costs!

I'm a CT girl, so I never really considered getting married anywhere else. We decided on a place called Crystal Peak in Torrington. My fiance is a total foodie, so much of our decision was based on food choices, but the place is really great. Here's the website, but the pictures don't do it any justice at all. It's sort of cut into the side of a mountain, so it's really private and outdoorsy.
