My fav. denim skirt has a sun bleached spot on it. I thought of re-dying it but a darker color. Do you think that will work? or is it ruinedcry boo-hoo

Well, it is already ruined now, right? Might as well try to dye it to make it wearable again.

i agree with greendiamond - you may as well try to salvage it if it is ruined already.  although why not dye it the exact same color - if it is your favorite skirt?

alb Iam not sure if I can match the color, its a skirt from j crew a few yrs back. So I thought about going a little darker to try and cover the sun spot

How big is the spot? Could you, instead of dyeing to cover it up actually highlight it as a new detail...depending on where on the skirt it is of course! I got a few small bleach spots on a skirt once and ended up putting a beading detail around each one...making it a point of interest instead of an accident. You could embroider around it or bead around it or even bead right over it and a few non-bleached spots to make a whole new look for your skirt.

Leah this spot is pretty large, in fact its on the top of butt area and goes down to leg area. It was on a hanger and the sun got to it. I thought I had it covered well after hanging some other stuff up, apparently  notcry

although I like the idea of beads ,I will keep that in mind

Too bad it's so difficult to replicate that cuz it looks kinda cool!

i don't think the fading is that bad, it kind of adds uniqueness to the skirt. I'd probably wear it as is, but it might look different IRL.

Sorry though, I have no suggestions for fixing it.

I agree, it's not really noticeable.

Could you purposely distress it a bit in other places? Make it look like the sun spot and distressing were part of the design from the start. And then wear it casually with tank tops and tees.

Yeah, I'd go with distressing it in other places also.

Thanks ladies, I could try that. Whats the best way to  go about it, just spray some bleach on it than  wash it?

Maybe wearing it down in a few places with a pumice stone or a nail file? Not make an actual hole but just a few spots where the threads show.
