what's the game here?

recently i cut my colleague a deal that if i get him the same great deal as i've for my gym membership, he'll get me nikon 7900, which represents about 1 year's savings (he's currently a member of the gym but paying double!).

i got the deal already, and he said he'll keep his word and get me my camera. and a surprise for being so efficient. does this sound a bit too good to be true?

oh i forgot to add that it's $400+.

i got my camera today! so efficient. i'm kinda embarrassed about this whole deal .. i didn't really expect him to agree and actually buy it. surprise won't be here till next week though.

now i'm thinking of what to buy for him as a gesture of goodwill. :)

hm, but i still cant get a read on him! i'm tending to think that he's not interested romantically but is just friendly and keeping his word. the suspense is fun but sometimes agonizing. he has just asked me out once, but as part of a group, though in the end he couldn't make it. been at the firm for abt 2 months only, so i guess i should play it cool first.

Get a clue girl!!! Boys don't just buy $400 cameras for "friends." He wants to sleep with you. (Maybe and hopefully more but certainly nothing less.)

Isn't it funny how we (women) can turn such obvious things into maybe, ifs, ands, and buts? We're so silly. (Don't worry, I do it too and it usually takes a friend to point out the obvious.) He digs you. Enjoy it and have fun!

hey, i thought it was a fair trade for both of us. ok, maybe a bit weighted towards me. he admitted he agreed initially cos he didn't think i could get the deal for him.

i was joking to him that i'll offer to take photos for him, but he has to be cooperative (all i wanted to say was that he should smile more) .. but his response was a "i don't think so. i don't do nude photos".

however, he does think that i'm going out with someone. i didn't correct his impression though. hence, isn't it bit irrational to do this? i still think he was just trapped into this, and wanted to keep his word.

I think he digs you and people are always more attractive when they might not be available. (That's a general statement, of course, because it's the opposite for me but I think it's true for most people.)

Maybe he was keeping his word and maybe not. Either way, keep the flirt going and play it cool. I think he's at least interested. If you're not ready to be the aggressor - or don't want to - then just wait and see how it goes. Time will answer your questions. Oh, and if you want something to happen, try and arrange to be at the same happy hour. Drinks always encourage loose lips...   (For talking people! Geez, don't be so dirty. )

Blubirde, you make me giggle.

Shoppinggal--definitely wasn't a fair trade for him.  You didn't lose any money and he didn't gain any since he paid for the camera with his savings.  The only way he is seeing anything as fair is if his sneaky plan works and impresses you.  Especially if he has asked you out before.  And 2 months is not long.  Play along and enjoy!  This is a cute story--what if you get to tell it to your grandkids hehe.

hehe, grandkids? somehow i don't really think so, but then again, i never know ..... hehe

i did ask him out for drinks once, but he was so proper and un-flirty. stayed out with him from 11pm to 3+am, 4-5 rounds of drinks and completely un-flirty! quite deflating, but it was interesting getting to know him better.

so bonus arrived! it's a book on travel photography .... nice complement to the new camera i must say. he has the same book at home btw.

meanwhile, i gave him something today too - a book by a famous photographer. he was quite visibly happy and pleased abt it cos he had wanted one for some time. glad to know he likes it.

anyway, we'll see what happens next! :)

I'd be sooo happy if all my "fizzled outs" ended up a cool cam as a parting gift. There should definitely be parting gifts in every potential relationship. It just makes everything so much easier. "Um, I'm not going to date you because I don't like you enough to make the effort but here's a great pair of earrings to send you on your way." Damn good idea.
