My boyfriend and I leave for Paris in exactly one week.  I'm so excited!!!

Any last minute advice on traveling to Paris in general (this is our first time to Europe) and also any recommendations on places to eat and must see attractions?

Merci!

avoid caffeine and alcohol about a week before the trip and drink lots of fluids --water - and juices or gatorade and try to sleep on the flight over--it will really help the jet lag/

have fun!

I've going to Paris for the first time next month so I'll probably be looking to you for suggestions after you get back!

My coworker just returned from a long weekend there and said the weather was gorgeous.

make sure that you get to the d'orsay museum- I personally liked it better that the Louvre. I also took a walking tour that was related to Hemmingway- it was really interesting (and in English) and takes you through some really cute neighborhoods. I don't remember the name, but google paris walking tours and I'm sure you'll find it.

I don't remember the specific places that I ate, but everything was really good. Even the hot dogs and sandwhiched they sell on the side of the road.

OK this is the company I did it with. http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/pariswalking/thismnth.htm

also, if you are (or can pass for- they didn't check ID;s on any of the walks I did ) under 25, there is a discount...it was either 5 or 7 euros instead of 10.

lucky!  i lived in paris for 6 months my junior year of college (back in 2000)... i wish i could sneak over with you...

things i loved about paris that you should try to check out are...

1. Make it to the Eiffel Tower at night.  If they still do it (and i think they do) every hour after dark, the entire Eiffel Tower sparkles!  it is so lovely and romantic... and *sigh* just beautiful....

2. if you have time to make the trip- go to Giverny to Monet's home.  The actual Japanese bridge, lily pond, etc. are all there... it is amazing to walk the actual place where he painted...

3. notre dame... amazing... if you are lucky when you are there a choir will be practicing... it makes the experience awesome...

4. take a baton mouche (boat tour) ride... it gives you a different perspective of the city

i am drawing a blank right now (can't concentrate) but if i think of anything else, i'll post it for you...

enjoy your time!
