I love Starbuck's. I am so excited because they just added in a menu of fresh food items for luch and snacking. I bought the Fruit & Cheese platter yesterday and it was absolutely delectable. It was only $5.25 for 9.25 oz. and included these foods: French camembert, mild white cheddar, cubed colby-jack, gala apples, sweet grapes, a big strawberry, and 3 slices of hearty cranberry raisin walnut bread.
My favorite combo is the camembret spread on the bread with strawberry slices on top.
Anyway, there are so many cool, non-deli type sandwiches and platters.
Today I am going to try the Mediterranean Tuna Platter $6.95 for the following: Mediterranean tuna salad w/red bell peppers and capers; served with fresh mozzarella, hard boiled egg, cucumber, grape tomatoes, lemon wedge, and Carr's crackers.
According to the Barista they make the food fresh every day.
That is exciting!! It will be nice to be able to get something there besides cheesecake, etc. I often go there wishing I could have something a little more "real food" to go with my coffee.
Last summer, they had a green salad with goat cheese and fruit. It was amazing, and such a good deal - where else in NYC can you find a good goat cheese salad for under $6? And it wasn't too high in fat either, even with the dressing (which I believe was light). I hope they bring it back this summer...
I'm so glad you liked it, esquiress. Those froo-froo foods are my favorite. Just don't read the nutrition label or you might not get it too often. I have to force myself not to buy one everyday, but I think I am going to head over right now and see if I can snag one (I have to get lucky, as they go fast!).
