help me find small bathing suits...
Permalink Closed

hey girls...my sister is real petite and she doesnt have much of a womanly figure and so she is on the hunt for a bathing suit where the bottom actually fits her snugly and isnt all bunchy in the butt area.  she even tried on little kids bottoms to see if that might work, but they were too small. so i was just wondering if anyone knew of a certain brand of bathing suits that maybe run smaller than normal??

I find that Roxy swimsuits run small. I normally wear a small in the bottoms and a large in the top. I tried on a large top and it was too little, so I went to an extra large-I still felt like I was busting out of the top. For the bottoms I had to go up to a medium for them to fit properly.

My friend has a Banana Moon one in XS from victoria's secret (not on the site anymore) and it fits her really well.  She has a Mischa Barton-esque figure but smaller butt/legs than Mischa.

The first thing that came to mind was girls' bathing suits but I guess that hasn't worked for her. She might want to try a few more places though - I've gotten a few kiddie bikinis at Old Navy and I didn't even have to get the biggest size even though I'm a bit bottom heavy.

I've actually had really good luck at Target. They usually have tons of options and you can often mix and match the pieces.

Also maybe she should try to figure out what styles work best for her. I can never really get regular bikini bottoms to fit right but I have good luck with boy shorts.

Roxy is a good suggestion. Anything that is more geared towards juniors tends to work well for me. Maybe AE?

I agree with everyone about Roxy.

Also try delias and alloy.com. I got a bikini from alloy and it fits prefectly.

I would say try VS - they have quite a few bikinis made in Brazil, which tend to be much skimpier in general as well as running small.  I would have to vote against ON and Target - I am not a skinny minny (a kinda curvy size 5-ish) and the Extra Smalls are usually too big for me.  I also second (third?  fourth?) the Roxy recommendation.

LMonet, I think it might depend on the brand. I'm pretty scrawny and size 0 doesn't even fit me in many stores plus I'm really flat-chested so I never thought I would have luck at Target but the past two summers I've bought all my suits there.

I did have to try on a bunch before I found ones that fit but I've usually been able to get a few cute suits.

At Old Navy I've only bought girls' sizes. I'm sure the adult bathing suits would be falling off me.
