Help! Damage to suede Coach Purse
Permalink Closed

Can anyone help my friend out - she has a brand new, suede, Coach bag and she took it out today while it was raining.  Well there is damage now and you can see where the rain hit it - there are water spots.

Will that Coach suede cleaner get rid of it?  Or is there something else she could do?

I would take it to a shoe repair shop.

I can sympathize except the shoes I had damaged by rain are not as $$$ as Coach bag.  I wore them one day while it was raining and the got splotches which did not dry/fade as they got dry.  These were Nine West shoes.  I took them to our local shoe repair person and he worked miracles.  He told me the next pair of colored leather shoes I got to bring them to him and he could put some kind of conditioner on them to prevent that from happening.  I wonder if you can do the same thing for suede?

dum dum da dum dum da dum da dum da dum....

the same thing happened to my best friend's suede Coach purse, and the suede cleaner/eraser thing they give you only made it worse.  ever since, we have all sworn off suede purses--such as shame because they just keep getting cuter and cuter too.

but maybe there is still hope for your friend.  don't do anything to it, take it to a professional and maybe they will be able to get it out.  good luck and sorry to be the bearer of a depressing story!

When you say a Professional, would you suggest a shoe repair place like the other girls?

I second that suggestion of the shoe shop, or someone who has done a good job of cleaning your leather jackets/ coats. That suede stone/brush is only good if you have to spot clean.

sorry, yeah, I just meant a professional cleaner of shoes/coats/etc--just someone accustomed to cleaning suede.  let us know how it goes!
