Should I get a Bikini Wax?
Permalink Closed

I am so sick and tired of shaving my bikini area.  No matter what I use or how I do it, I always end up w/red bumps and sometimes painful razor burn.  I've never had a bikini wax, but i'm starting to think I should just do that and forget shaving.  Is it worth it?  How long does it last and how much does it cost.

For those of you in Chicago, any recommendations where I could have it done?

if you just want a regular bikini wax and don't want to go to a salon/spa to have it done, check out "wax poetic" from sephora.  I think Bliss Spa makes it.  it is super gentle.  i never waxed myself until i purchased this kit from sephora and now i only wax.  i struggled the first time but since then i have been a pro.

Bex - now what do you mean when you say "if you just want a normal bikini wax"?

I get a normal bikini wax. I have been getting it done for about 5 years. In the beginning I had to to get it done about every 3 weeks, but now I get it done about 6 or 7 weeks. If I get lazy sometimes I will wait 2 months, but it really dones't look that bad so it is not a huge deal if I wait a little.

It's very nice, but sooooooo painful. I'm a huge baby.

Everytime I ever have tried to use the at home waxing stuff, nothing works for me.  It doesn't even pull the hair off.

How much do you guys pay for a bikini wax?

If you have coarse hair- waxing will prob still give you ingrown hairs.  That's what happened to me- even though I didn't have razor burn- red bumps were even higher.  Use something exfoliating like Tendskin (plus tons of moisturizer because this is so drying) to help prevent this- works with shaving too.  I only shave now because it's cheaper, more instant gratification, and I hate waiting for hair to grow in.

For me I've paid upwards $40 depending upon how much you want off, the more off the more it costs.

I have been getting regular bikini waxes for the past year, and I will NEVER go back to shaving.  I pay $25, which I am told is very very cheap (especially for LA).  It is awesome.  And, honestly your hair does grow back softer and thinner.  I highly recommend!
