earth-friendly shoes!
Permalink Closed

Keds just came out with a new line of shoes called their "Green Label" that are made with:
  • 100% organic cotton
  • non-toxic inks and dyes
  • recycled rubber
  • recycled water-bottles
You can get more information here.  This is the first pair of shoes I've ever seen that are environmentally friendly, so I thought I would share! What do you guys think? Any other "green" fashion tips??

I think the willow lace up are really cute - they remind me of some vans I had a million years ago (I like the black version here):

I'm not aware of any other specifically green apparel or accessories, but I'll keep my eyes peeled!

I've seen plenty that are marketed as eco-friendly, but some of that is greenwashing.

Simple Shoes has few - this sandal is organic cotton, cork, natural latex, recycled car tires, water-based glue, and ship in a recycled paper box:

Well, this isn't as fun, but the greenest thing would be to limit how much you buy in the first place. If you need new shoes or jeans, then going organic or "green" is the best choice. But even better is not buying shoes or jeans you don't actually need, organic or not. Going thrifting is good too - it's cheaper and you're buying things that have already been used, so you're not putting as much of a demand on the factories making new clothing.

Yeah, I dig the Green Label Keds because they're legit - if you're making shoelaces out of 100% water bottles, you're definitely trying to make a difference.

Me too! I loved Vans and Airwalks back in the day.
