area rug

so this weekend we did some srping cleaning and decided that we really need an area rug in the living room- right now its just white wall to wall and it is boring (and kind of dirty ). We found one that we agreed on at Lowe's but its $250 and we weren't *that* crazy about it. Can you help us find something or give suggestions on where to look?

specifically we want:

  • nothing with a "bill cosby" type geometric print

  • he doesn't like persian rugs (I may be able to convince him, if its fabulous...)

  • not a lot of red, ideally something with a blue base

  • something that will add color to our boring living room

  • I think a solid would look silly over the pther carpet

Ikea has a pretty decent selection---you can even look on the website

Bigger TJ Maxx or Marshalls have area rugs hanging in the back sometime

Home Depot--selection will be similar to Lowes probably

Tuesday Morning---if you have one of those stores near you--nice linens and rugs

Check out www.homedecoratorsoutlet.com and www.overstock.com.   Both sites have a wide variety of rugs to choose from. I think that each site has a sort function so that you can view rugs based on the size, style and color(s) that you are interested in.  My advice:  Take your time until you find a rug that you really LOVE (not just like or you'll end up wanting to buy a different rug in a couple years!).  Good luck!
