gold flats?
Permalink Closed

I've been thinking about getting a pair of gold flats. My primary reason for wanting these is that I want something that's a neutral (in that, it will go with almost anything I throw on), but my nude flats bother me lately because it looks like I'm barefoot from afar. I haven't had much luck finding any tan or beige flats that I like.

So my first quesiton is: are gold flats a good idea, or am I off my rocker? I mentioned this to my BF and he said that he think gold shoes sound "jersey" and trashy. So now I'm nervous, because I imagined these to be a staple.

Second: if you think they are a good idea, which pair do you like? These are the two I'm looking at (I like the tone of the first, but the shape of the second)

Edited because apparently I use all my proofreading powers at work and none at play :)

I think gold flats are a YES and can definitely work as a staple.

Gold flats are a neutral staple, IMO. I prefer a paler, matte gold to a shiny bold one. I agree with you about the ones on the left being a better tone and the ones on the right being a better shape.  How much do you want to spend?

I like the first pair since they're more subdued. And men don't know anything about shoes.

Yeah, don't ask a guy for his opinion on shoes. They don't know anything. wink.gif

Anyway, I like the first pair the best. The color is subtle and the shape is still cute. I want them too!

They're from Aldo, $40 on Amazon, in case you want to get them!

I wear gold flats all the time. I have these from Target in gold.

They are not on their website but you might be able to find them in the store. They are $20 and they have lasted a good 2-3 years.

I'm so glad ST is here. My BF is usually a good person to consult on style issues (shhh, don't tell all the other men wink.gif) but I had to this to ST because I just knew he had to be wrong about this one. I was on the fence, but the more I look at them, I think I'll go with the Aldo ones on the left. Thanks for all your input!!

I forgot to add, my brother once told me that my leopard pumps looked "South Jersey." (He wears combat boots all the time, even with shorts.)

I think gold flats are super cute. I unfortunately don't have a pair but my best friend has some from Nine West and they always look great with whatever she wears. Definitely a neutral.

I love my gold flats. I had a pair from Target that lasted me 3 years and when they finally wore out, I replaced them last August with a BCBG pair because they were such a wardrobe staple for me.
