BF and i have decided on chocolate and blush pink as colors (okay- you got me- i decided on it and he agreed)... but he brought up an interesting point (my darling metro-sexual BF that he is)... what color should the suits be if the bridesmaids are wearing chocolate brown?
BF is buying a Burberry suit for the wedding (he drools over them everytime we go to Saks and feels this is as good as any a reason to buy one) so he suggested a deep brown to match but i doubt the tux shop will have anything for the guys to "match" him and the girls...
suggestions?
also, the girls are asking what color shoes they will be wearing? their dresses are knee length so shoes will be in sight... all bridesmaids are in chocolate brown with some sort of a pink accent and my MOH is in a pink dress.... HELP!!!!!!!!!
I am not into getting all matchy matchy at weddings (I have never understood the reasons for that, but I assume it's for the photos), so I personally wouldn't worry too much about the groomsmen matching the BMs. (Also, if your FH is wearing a suit, should they even be wearing tuxes? I like suits at weddings instead of tuxes, but that's just me) You can pick up on the "blush" with the - sorry for the spelling here - bouteniers, or you could pick up on either of the colors with the guys' ties...
As far as BMs shoes, I agree that a soft champagne (not a harsh gold or silver) could be pretty. No dyed to match shoes - tacky. I think we all agree about that.

thanks dc- i guess i should have rephrased my subject to "suits" and not tuxes.... we want all the guys in suits. sorry.
and i like both of your suggestions on the champagne color for the shoes... thank you!
i actually like the way brown looks with black, i think it's a very rich look. we are doing black suit-like tuxes (cut like suits but with the satin stripe on the pants, etc. and normal black neckties). i have a bunch of pictures i nabbed from people on the knot who did brown BM dresses with black tuxes. they are all on my computer at home, but i can post a few later tonight.
my girls' dresses are short too, and i think i will let them pick out their own shoes. i like a little bit of personality to come through in accessories, rather than dictating every last item down to the nailpolish. i have thought about pink shoes, but i'm not sure that's the look i want, so we will probably go with gold or champagne too. something like this:
We're doing brown bm dresses/black suits too! I'd really like to see your pics Valenciana. We're also going with a dress that has a bit of a sheen to it, to further the brown/black contrast. If you aren't super-attached to the matching aspect of the BMs, you could just tell them to get light/medium pink shoes in the style of their choice. How many BMs do you have?

i love brown bm dresses with pink accents - it seems to be really popular around the knot and the WC right now.
here are some pics (probably many of the same ones valenciana has) that i nabbed from the WC journal of pipsqueak78 -- she is doing brown/pink and has tons of photos and ideas in that color scheme in her journal (she is also a dear friend of mine) - so you could check her journal for more ideas. i know she is doing black tuxes with the brown dresses.

thanks everyone! i guess black suits don't look as bad as i thought with the brown dresses!
i am letting my girls pick their dresses out of a few different choices. i want them to hit at the knee and be A-line skirts, but the top 1/2 of the dress they can choose if they want straps or strapless, etc.
i really really like the idea of champagne colored shoes- thanks again for that suggestion!
i guess we'll go with black suits with some sort of pink accent...
suprising that chocolate and pink are popular. everyone i tell that combo to around here look at me all funny and then say "well, i guess i'll just have to see it!"
you guys and my best friend are the only ones who "get it" when it comes to the colors! thanks! you make me feel better about choosing them!
I love that color combo and I had originally thought about brown before choosing my wedding colors. I personally would go with brown shoes on all, but that's just me. I had a formal wedding and though I don't really like the dye thing, brown shoes shouldn't be hard to find. I went to a wedding last year and the men wore Brown suits and the girls pink dresses, it was soooo cute.
I was in a chocolate brown wedding 5 years ago (it was a "surprise" color for a wedding then, so we could find no pics of choco brown), and the bride was concerned about the same thing, but went with black tuxes anyway. It looked really rich in the pics, so I say black. I think some sort of tie square/tie that would coordinate with the blush color would look nice.
The other thing I like about chocolate is that it looks really good in the pics.
Nice color choices!
Oh by the way, we wore muted goldish shoes and they looked very nice.
