30 day shred project
Permalink Closed

In an effort to jump start my workout routine again I have decided to start doing the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred workout. I know someone who was doing it and lost a whole dress size in just half the time. I'm going to post here, in beauty and health, everyday (like a progress journal). So, does anyone want to join in? I'll start this coming Monday, in case anyone wants to join but doesn't have the DVD yet.

I just started doing her workouts (we get a couple through On Demand w/Comcast).  Holy freaking crap I feel so out of shape after (well, and during) her workouts!  I find that her commentary keeps me motivated to do the whole workout.

I'm with ya.  And I'm just gonna consider this week of doing them a head start that I probably need badly wink.gif.

ps - I just finished the workout like 10 minutes ago and can hardly type this my arms are so fatigued.

I tried the 30 day shred workout - I didn't even make it through once!  You girls rock!!!
Right now I'm doing her basic workouts - frontside and backside.  I figured I would get those down and then try the shred workout again.
Goodluck!

I've had this is my cart on amazon forever, and haven't pulled the trigger. But it sounds like everyone really likes it, so I think I'll join you!

I did this in the fall - have fun, it's awesome! I still do the workouts sprinkled in among my other workout DVD's. Now I am having trouble finding DVDs that compare to the intensity of these.

Get ready for some killer arm muscles.

Wow after reading all of ur comments and seeing all the great reviews online I want to try it.  I see that stores carry it so Im going out this afternoon to look for it.  I'll be nice to have support here knowing other girls are doing it too.

My mom and I did this workout. I stopped doing it around day 10 because I was swamped with wedding stuff, but my mom has stuck with it and lost several dress sizes. She loves how inshape she feels now. The only thing she doesn't like is that she hasn't lost any lbs, but her waist is definitely smaller as she has changed dress sizes. Her arms are in a lot better shape too.

The only complaint I have is that the workouts do get a little repetitive because you do them for 10 days straight, but it is a nice gauge to see how far you have come!

I'm not familiar with this program at all, but sounds like something I might try. I'm guessing by the title it's a 30 day program that kicks your butt. Can't wait to hear more reviews!!

This may be a dumb question but do you do it every day for 30 days? And yes, what extra "tools" do you need?

Yes, you are supposed to do it every day for 30 days - there are three levels and you do each one ten days each.

All you really need are two five pound dumbbells (unless you are really strong, then maybe 7s or 8s) and a soft surface or mat for the ab exercise part.

Unless you're already in decent shape I don't know how on earth you'd be able to do it everyday, at least at first.  Seriously, I can hardly walk today.

I only had 8 lb weights, so I used them for some of the exercises and not for others, or I'd do the first half of the reps with weights and the rest without.  I was wishing I had 3's yesterday, though 5's would be fine if you've been doing some training already.

I'm in! I stuck with it for 20 days the first time around.  If I can do it after a bilateral mastectomy (difficult, but I push through), then you guys can do it too smile

go get yourself some lighter weights, Elle!

anyone else find it cheaper? I know that's cheap already, but hey, every penny counts wink.gif

Sounds interesting...I may give it a try. But do you need a lot of space? Space is at a premium in my living room where I have my TV and I'm not fond of moving couches/chairs etc.

You have to have room to do jumping jacks, and to lay down on the floor for abs.  That's pretty much it!

you don't need a lot of space. the most space you need is for pushups and stretching. it's really basic stuff - no dancing around like a lot of aerobics are.

Great, thanks for the insight! I think I'm going to give it a try as well. I definitely need to incorporate some more strength training into my workout.
