Can you mix a stained wood dresser with painted wood night stands in a bedroom? Husband has a heavy looking dark wood dresser that we have to keep, but I am trying to give the master BR a ligher feel, so I was hoping if I can mix pieces it will work. What do you think?
What is it with guys and the random furniture they have to keep? Mike has a few things around here that had to move with us but they are in "his" bedroom not "my" bedroom.
What color are the painted night stands. I think it will all work but I'm terrible with decorating so you might not want to listen to me. LOL.
Oh, you can definitley mix. I am a fan of mixing instead of having all matching. For example my family room has an off white distressed entertainment center, medium wood chest, black mini grandfather clock and red toy storage bins :)
Mixing helps it look less like you bought a set (nothing wrong with a set, just not me though) and a more designer look in most cases.
Depending on what look you are going for, a shade of the blue could be nice. Also like a white with black crackle could work. Do you have pics of similar pieces? Pics of your comforter? That might help guide suggestions. Your room sounds nice and soothing though.
Oh, you could paint your nightstands white and do a brown antique glaze, similar to the tables in the picture of your comforter. And it might be fun to do the vanity in a soft blue with a crackle finish, but that depends on your taste and the size of the room and the proximity of the vanity to the bed (don't want to be too heavy on blue, kwim). You should post pics when you're finished.
