Dream home decor
Permalink Closed

Now that i've got a new place on my mind, i've been hunting around for pieces I'll need in a few months- sofa, lamps, chairs, and eventually some upgrades for what I have currently.  I like mid-century modern, as "trendy" as it is, but mixed with other things so it looks more like MY apartment, and not a show home with the same few items that are deemed worthy in the design world.

Anyway... in my quests I found Serge Mouille lighting and now I want itttt.  So expensive, too much.  $2000 +  But I love it so much.

Anyone else have any dream splurges?  Can be in any price range.

And I want new drapes just about everywhere.

plushpod.com has so much stuff I absolutely love! Lots of the pieces are really pricey though.

I also really like the idea of wall decals. They're a splurge for me right now though. I especially like the "forests".

I need drapes for the living room/dining room (two windows in the living room part and one in the dining room part). Silk in a pale aqua. The big question is what treatment at the top.

How funny, that's the exact same chaise in a different color. At Bellacor it's $70 less and free shipping.

i'm in love with all things pottery barn! i love how they put rooms together, too.
i'd buy a small table like this for my breakfast area:

then four of these chairs to match:

then i'd get a huge dining room table like this one, or maybe in black:
Harvest Dining Table

they used to have a really deep sofa for in a media room, it almost looked like a daybed, and i have wanted that for a long time. i don't see it on their webpage anymore.

i'd have to get a couple of these, too:
Manhattan Leather Armchair

i've always wanted a canopy bed. i saw this one in the store and i fell in love with it! :

Dream splurge?  My dream purchases are a dream--not necessarily because they're expensive--but because they are old.

a MCM credenza, some lighting, love it! (attachments)

These desires are urgent because MCM homes are in danger of being stripped and torn down in many cities.  In Charlotte, if you see a MCM home that you want, buy it now!  Developers will demolish it and replace it with 5 McMansions on what was previously one lot--without batting an eyelash.  Here's a sad one from St. Louis area.  no

The Catalano House (torn down before MCM became popular again)

Oh the humanity!

...sorry for the hijack.

oh the humanity is right! Why can't we find a house like this? Our city is drowning in these weird hansel and gretel style houses or arts and crafts bungalows that claim they have an second floor as a joke. Can I say again I hate hate hate the city we are living in? HATE.

As for dream purchase, I know you either love or hate these Tord Boontje Blossom chandelier, and I'm in the love category.

I love it, but I'd have to redecorate my entire house to make it work...

Ok, mine are outdoor related since that is what I'm in the market for.  I'm pretty sure this is the dining table set I'm going with:

But this umbrella:

Seat cushions in black damask:

Window boxes:
WS359_1?$detail$
I've always lusted after these planters:
AV448_1?$detail$
Awww, a chaise, sigh...
SO226_1?$detail$
And the piece that I'm pretty sure is a real dream, cause I don't see it happening for $900, this beautiful outdoor console:
Manchester Console Table
