What do we think kids? I wasn't too thrilled with anyone last night, but Anthony was crap. He needs to go next. Nikko and Bo got my votes as usual. I ust say Constantine was really good though. That is what getting your degree in musical theatre from the Boston Conservatory will do though. I think he should go for the Broadway thing. He was fantastic in Rent when I saw him and it was far enough away so that I didn't have to look at his terrible teeth.

anthony has got to go, please. what a crappy week... they picked such bad songs. bo was terrible. nadia looked gorgeous and i still like constantine, double chin and all. i predict anwar will go tonight though. some people somewhere just keep voting for anthony.
the only one who actually did a great job was constantine. he impresses me more every week - he can actually sing! and he picks great songs and gives them a unique delivery that makes them actually come alive. everyone else picked the crappiest songs - i mean, of all the songs from all musicals in the world, you pick some obscure song from The King and I?Pippin?
other observations:
Paula is the most awkward human being on the face of the Earth. What is wrong with her?
That blond girl sings nicely but is about as interesting as my left pinky toe.
Scott Savol looks like a singing robot-marshmallow. Why can't he turn his head or move? Is he really with Nadia? She is gorgeous.
all the Idols have this superstar posing thing going on while they sing. they look ridiculous. constantine with his camera-glower thing, the girls with the "power stance" and cheesy hand movements, anthony trying to be sexy and failing miserably...it's very odd. i wonder if they're taught all this or just think they are divas already?
And has anyone else noticed that the live song arrangements are much better this year? That's not saying much, but they do sound less musak-y.
Oh, ick!! I always say (and this is the musical theatre and classic vocalist coming out in me), that singing musical theatre will prove who the real singers are and last night was abysmal. I was only mildly impressed by Constantine (and less impressed when I found out that he had been in a tour of Rent--he should have been way better than he was).
Everyone else had idiotic, if not downright inappropriate song choices. I mean, what was up with Anthony singing "Climb Every Mountain"?? Are you kidding me?? If you are a not a soprano, you should not be singing that song (although, I can see how Anthony might get confused). And I usually like Carrie, but that stupid "The King and I" song was soooooo boring. Why didn't anyone do anything good, like "Someone Like You" from Jekyll and Hyde? At least no one sang "Over the Rainbow."
In summary, that show was a debacle and a complete sham of Broadway showtunes. It was like watching a trainwreck.

Wait, WHAT?? Where did you hear that from? I didn't know that! Man, I'm late!

They had to do classical musicals so Jekyll and Hyde wouldn't be allowed. Les Mis was out too. I was quite shocked that no one did any of the fun songs from My Fair Lady, West Side Story or A Chorus Line. They could have done a lot with those songs. I would have liked to see one of the girls do "What I Did For Love", "I Feel Pretty" or "I Could Have Danced All Night" and one of the guys do "On the Street Where You Live". Bo should have done something from Tommy. It is considered a classic now.
