that's soo funny you posted this.  we get the crate and barrel catalog and i was pointing out all the ridiculous items to my bf and the number one thing that i showed him was an ASPARAGUS BOILING POT THINGY.  ok, maybe i would think it was cool if i had like this gigantic kitchen and had room for a one of those things cuz i like asparagus...

so i usually boil it (not in one of those pots) and then sprinkle lemon pepper seasoning (it's my secret weapon for fish, veggies, etc...).  you can also just squeeze a lemon or a lime over it.

i know you can also put parm on it (but ususally my other entrees are fattening so i don't want my healthy one to be fattening).

i sautee it sometimes with the lemon pepper seasoning.

EVOO, you have been watching too much Rachel Ray!!!  i almost needed my bf to parental control the food network cuz when i would watch it, i would gain like five pounds, everything looked soo good.

also, my mom just puts it on a plate with a tiny bit of water, and covers it with plastic wrap and steams it that way.....when you're too lazy to get out a steamer.

I love asparagus!! I usually cook it this way as well.  Sometimes instead of lemon or lime juice with pepper, I'll use butter and pepper.

On another vegetable note, I made brussel sprouts the other day and my bf had never had them (don't ask me how he made it almost 28 years without having brussel sprouts).  He was snooping around the pot when I was cooking them and he eyed them up and asked, "What are those? Little broccoli balls?" HAHAAHAA!! Broccoli balls!! He comes up with the most ridiculous things sometimes.

Hi. I usually steam them. If you don't have a steamer, you can put them in a pasta drainer (is it how that thing is called?) covered, over boiling water.

I just put salt and olive oil on them, lemon if I feel like. You can add them to pasta or rice with some parmigiano. That's often my lunch.

I always steam my vegetables, but asparagus is hard to steam in a basket steamer because of its length.  I use this to steam my asparagus:

I just steam it and sprinkle salt and maybe a little pepper on it.  A typical dinner for us is grilled salmon with old bay seasoning and steamed veggies with salt and pepper...

I love asparagus. I usually steam it and then sprinkle with fat-free Molly McButter.

we just got that mag too and that was one of the things i WANTED!  and i hate to cook!  but i love steamed asparagus and cook it with almost every meal i make (which is about 3 times a month- if that!)

so basically, my favorite way to cook it is steamed with a little bit of butter, salt and pepper.

I SHOULD know the anser to this since my city has an asparagus festival every year (it's coming up), but my family's lazy so we boil it and dip in mayo.  I'll definitely try some of the other tastier suggestions, though.
