looking for a watch for my guy

okay, a some of you may know, my fiance is graduating from law school in a little over a month and i'd like to get him a watch.  he is very into watches but has been collecting mostly casual ones lately, and i want to get him a nice one he can wear to work.

something like this is his "dream watch" (okay, i think this is a women's style, but you get the idea):

but alas, between moving, paying double rent, and all the wedding and household expenses we have in our future this year, Cartier is not an option.

i found a pretty nice one by Bulova that's the right style, but i feel like Bulova isn't all that special...maybe i'm just a snob, but i want to get him something nice and not just something that says "i walked into Kohl's and found this watch for you."  i'm looking for suggestions of actual watches, or just brands that you've had good luck with or think highly of.  i'm looking to spend around $300, but less is always more.

ETA: here's the one i saw that i liked.  so i guess that Cartier one isn't quite it, i guess i'm looking for more of a tank style.

Hey, Bulova is plenty special. I bought one for my fiance as his wedding present. It's all in the style.

This one is $350, but I got it for $225 or something like that. And yes, those are diamonds.

this is a little over what you want to spend, but longines is very very high quality... I know of others that have received a longines watch as a graduation gift (kind of the watch equivalent of a mont blanc pen as a graduation gift)

you'll also get more bang for your buck on ebay...

Alright, not what you want...but check out Overstock.  I buy all of my watches there.  They always get new ones for their selection, and the designer watches are often 50% off.  They are always really nice and I have never had any problems with quality.

This is the Movado I bought my friend...
