Ladies I need your input/help

I am currently taking a Statistics class and I have a final project due in a few weeks.  The subject of my project is:
Shop ‘til You Drop?
Is the American Obsession with “Stuff” Sending Women Into Debt?

I would greatly appreciate your help in completing the survey below.  I do not need to know names or anything.  You can just copy the survey into a blank email and email it to me at boardingbunny@yahoo.com.  If you would like to send it from an anonymous email address so that I do not know who you are that is just fine.  You can also PM your answers to me here on ST. My goal is to get 100 surveys back so that I have a really good sample field.  I will keep any answers or info that I get from you completely confidential.  When I am done with the project I also plan to share my data with you all here on ST

Guidelines for the survey:
1.  Please be honest, as I said all of your answers are confidential
2.  When answering questions about how much you spend on shopping/month do not include necessities like groceries and personal hygiene products.  I am only looking for things that you do not need to have.  Oh and no pulling a Becky Bloomwood, you do not NEED to have that hot little Miu Miu skirt or those great C Ronson wedges - even if you have a code! :)

3.  Please let me know if you have any questions about the survey
4.  Please have the survey to me by next Friday April 15th

Survey:

1.  What is your age?
18-24
25-31
32-38
39-45
Over 45

2. Gross Annual Income:

Under $25,000
$25K - $34K
$35K - $44K
$45K - $60
$61K - $80K
$81K - $95K
$96,000+

3. Marital Status:

Single (never married)
Married
Divorced or Widowed

4.  Parental Status (please count baby on the way as 1 child):
No kids
1-2 kids
3-5 kids
6+ kids

5.  What is your living situation?

Rent
Own

6.  Do you have cc debt:
Yes
No

7.  How many ccs do you have?
Please enter numeric answer

8.  How much debt do you carry on your ccs? (can be an approximate amount)
Please enter numeric answer

9.  What are you buying? (answer all appropriate choices)
Clothing
Shoes, handbags and accessories
Beauty products
Gifts for others
Home furnishings

10.  Why do you shop most of the time? (choose one)
To make myself feel better after something bad happens
To keep up with the current trends
I just can't help myself
Because I can

11.  Would you rather shop or pay off your credit card debt?
Yes, I don't see a big deal with having a little CC debt
Yes, I do not see any end in sight of paying off my CC debt so I may as well shop
No, it is important to me to pay off my CC debt first and then have extras
I shop, but I pay off my credit cards in full each month
I do not have credit card debt

One thing I would recommend to you is to vary your sources for your sample.  I would imagine the ladies here at ST are not your typical women in that we are... well, obsessed with fashion and shopping, so I would imagine results with a large sampling of STer's would not translate to the population in general.

I know you didn't ask for advice and I hope you won't be offended, but I would like to recommend you visit some other forums (non-fashion related), perhaps ivillage or elsewhere, to get a more varied sampling.  Just some food for thought.

PS. I just want to add that I am aware you may have plenty of sources for your sampling, but since you didn't say so I just wanted to point this out in case you forgot about sampling, or whatever.

Thanks for your input Drew.  I am also using data from ladies that I work with and a few other sources.  I appreciate your advice!

Haha, on Drew's note, in my sophomore (college) year Speech class- someone did a speech on Thrift Stores.  He did a survey beforehand asking how much people spent on clothes a year.  He did ranges like under $100, 101-250, 250-500, 500-750, 750-1000, 1000 +.  I easily spend over $1000 a year on clothes so I just circled that without thinking.  When he did the graph of the data- only one person in my 30 person class circled over $1000!  Me!  I was shocked- $1000 isn't THAT much is what I was thinking.  For a whole year, no less.  But it really made me second think how much I spend on clothes/how much most of the world spends on clothes.
