hating my hair - tips for fading color?

I think that your hair does look quite a bit like Cameron Diaz, but if you don't like it, you don't like it.

You might be wasting your time. The more pigment you wash out of your lowlights, is also pigment (perhaps if a toner was applied) that is in your highlight. It looks like pretty good contrast was achieved, so I don't think there's much you can do.

If you are feeling brave, you could go buy a box of semi-permanent color at the drug store in a color you like and just apply it with your fingertips to your most stripy strands. I've done that before and it's pretty harmless.

First of all, snap, I was suppose to take a pic of my hair for you and totally forgot... please forgive me. You should've pm'ed me and reminded me. But it looks like it might not of helped anyway.

And it seems to me the biggest difference is that the color she did is much more ashy than golden like Cameron's and she definitely went heavy on the lowlights.

I think I'd call the stylist and express your dissatisifaction and see what she says. Tell her it isn't golden enough and see what she says. If she seems unwilling on the phone or tries to convince you that it's fine then I would save the trip but if she's willing to work with you I'd totally go and make her fix it. She's working for you baby! I've had to go back and have my hair stylist tweak things before even though I've been going to her for years. But she always fixes it to my liking. HTH! And I hope it gets fixed the way you like.

PS. I think she needs more of the golden blonde in your bangs than the darker color, that alone will help it seem blonder.

just call her up and ask her to weave in more highlights - it will balance out the lowlights and brighten up.

p.s Dont feel weird about calling your hairdresser - if you dont love it she wants to know!

I agree with calling your colorist. If she's someone that you have an on-going relationship with, then she wants to keep you happy as a customer. She'll be glad you called to get it fixed to your satisfation.

I'd use a color shampoo for blondes to help keep the highlights brighten and lighten up your color.
