Jeans help

Hello all.

I am desperate to find jeans that fit and wear well. I am a US size 10 (gulp!) and am 5'1". Therefore, I need a brand that sells in different lengths. I am opposed to Old Navy as they all fit me funny. Other than that, I'm up for suggestions. Price doesn't matter as I am willing to pay whatever it takes to get a few pair that will last a while. Thanks!

Hmmm...well, I'm a little bit taller than you (5'4") and I rarely can find jeans short enough for me.  So, I think you will probably have to have almost anything you find hemmed.  I wouldn't worry about the length, a decent tailor can do an original hem for about $15-$18.

At a size 10, you should be able to find a ton of brands that fit you nicely.  When I was a 10, I really liked the Levis w/ a little stretch (sorry, I don't remember the name of the style), the Nordstrom Halogen brand, and Citizens of Humanity.

My suggestion is that you just go to a store w/ a ton of jeans, like Nordstrom or Bloomies, and try on a bunch of styles.  Kind of a pain I know, but I bet you'll find a few that look great on you.

If you want to buy some nice jeans from Nordstrom- I think they will hem them for free.  just make sure they don't make them *too* short- that's what happened to my sister (by about an inch- not too bad)

I am built like you, only about 3 inches taller. I recently got a pair of Joes Jeans. They are awesome. Plenty of room in the hip, thigh and butt area. a 10 equals about a 31 in their sizing. Of course you will need them hemmed!  mine were $148 i think. Good luck!

I too am 5'1" and I can rarely find jeans the correct length. I've never purchased a pair of jeans over $60, so I really can't attest to the lengths on really GOOD quality jeans. Express and GAP are okay, but you'll probably need to wear heels or boots with them. Sometimes I just cut the bottoms off and let them fray. I pretty much have to hem all of my pants, but I've never attempted to hem jeans.

This may sound crazy, but the only jeans I've found that I can wear with flats or low heels are the Arizona Brand at JCPenney. I think the inseam is something like 28". Give them a try...they're surely cheap enough.

If money is no object, then don't be afraid to buy the pair you love the best even if they don't fit perfectly.  You can always take them to a tailor to be altered.  Even hemming can be done with the re-attachment of the original hems.  The waist, thighs, whatever, it can all be altered.  I just buy what I like and have it taken in; it usually cost me $14 -$20, which isn't bad for the perfect fit.

I am only 5'1", and always have trouble finding jeans - Old Navy just fits weird, Gaps short length is too short and the reg. length is too long, etc.  The only brand I have found that fits in lenth, accomodates my thighs, and doesn't gap in the back is Jordache at Wal Mart.  They come in short, reg., and long lengths.  And they are only $15 (non-stretch) and $18 (stretch) respectively.  I have the short length in the stretch that is long enough for heels.  In the non-stretch I have 2 short lengths for flats/sneakers and I'm getting a reg. length pair this weekend for heels.  HTH!

Thank you. I think a trip to Bloomies is in order.

regular hems are free.  tricky hems (hems that make it so you can't tell the jeans have been hemmed) are $18.
