How would I find my "true size"? I have noticed some mention of true size as opposed to vanity sizes (I am all too familiar with this, I am wearing stuff that is all over the place sizewise). Just curious......

The chart here: http://www.smokydiva.com/Main%20Web/womensize.htm (you need to scroll down for the chart) seems like my idea of 'true' sizes but the thing to remember here is, there is no definitive 'true' size guide. I just generally think a 'true' size is usually one or two up from the 'vanity' size.

Thanks for the info Mia! I am going to stick with true size being only one size up from vanity sizing, 'kay? You are probably right about there being no one true size. My hip measurements fit in one size and my waist another. So, I am a tree trunk, sorta. A mighty oak, if you will.

Same.... it's hard to find anyone, I am sure, who fits all 3 measurements. My waist and hips are in one category and my boobs - despite minimized status - in the next. However, given that I will try to squeeze my chest into whatever I can, I go with what fits my waist and hips!

I think of designer sizes as true size (they tend to be 1 up from mall brands), which pretty much fit the chart mia posted (if you go to the NM site and look at the "modern size guide").

What freaks me out is vintage - just bought a size 10 dress (I am a 6), which was sort of humbling.

dc, it is a well known fact that vintage people were way smaller!! They didn't get as much meat and milk. True fact, really.
