question about Sephora

I think a friend of mine told me (a long time ago) that Sephora accepts returns, even if the item is opened... like if you buy something and it wasn't what you expected, you can get a refund/credit. Is this true? I don't live near any stores (the closest one is 2 1/2 hours away in Boston) so I'd have to do this online. I looked on the website, and it tells me that they do free returns and in the instructions it says something like "place the unopened containers in their original condition in a box to return..." I love Sephora and order from them all the time but I've never not been satisfied with what I got. I wanted to buy a "Sephora exclusive" but I can't tell if I'll like it (and I don't think it's worth the risk to get it and let it sit in a makeup drawer forever if I don't like it). I just thought I'd see if anyone here could help me before I call customer service to ask them. Thanks!

I shop at Sephora because they allow returns when you're dissatisfied with the product. I think the policy is that half the product must still be left (like no returning empty bottles). The SAs are very cool about returns. I've never shopped online, though, so you may want to ask CS just to be safe.

i"m pretty sure they'll take it back.  i returned a Day and Night moisturizer set by DDF ($45 for two $30 moisturizers) having really liked one of the moisturizers (used it all up) and hated the other one (full).  I was expecting store credit for half or something, but they gave me all my money back no questions asked.  I used up an entire $30 moisturizer for free.  I didn't even mind paying but they gave me my money back, which i ended up using on something else.

Have you bought something already and want to return or about to buy?

If you are about to buy you should order online since you don't live near a store since stuff you buy in a store can only be returned to a store and you can't do it online which really sucks.  If you buy it online you have 60 days to return it if you don't like it and you can use it. Usually it takes one or two uses anyways to tell if you like it or not.  They are really good about returns and you get to keep the free samples you order. Return shipping is free also.

I'm about to buy something... I just didn't know if it was worth the risk. I love Sephora, they have such good CS policies (and I thought that even before I knew you could return used products). I didn't know they had free return shipping... that's great of them too. Thanks for the help, ladies, I'll definitely order now!
