I wouldn't wear hose to that event if it were me. If they're not to keep you warm, why bother? Sheer hose won't make any difference, really, especially if they're very sheer and only the most attentive people will notice. Of course those are the ones who will judge but whatever.

I'd say you have 3 choices:
1. wear tights (perfectly acceptable with peep toes)
2. go bare legged
3. wear toeless hose - easy enough to find (department store, Target, etc.) but it's my least favorite of the chocies

Agreed.

With brown snakeskin I'd go with brown tights, not gray. And the bronze clutch will work with the brown tights too.

so you would do black tights with a navy dress and brown shoes?  hmm, i wouldn't have thought of that.

NO I would definitely not do that. Go bare-legged if you can. Brown tights would be okay, but browns are so hard to match that the color would have to be just right. I also think that opaque brown legs might be too much/too "heavy" with that dress.

May I mention again that navy is a complicated color???

I'd try to match the tights to the shoes as much as possible. I'm also rethinking the texture since snakeskin already has a texture thing going on. You don't want to overload. Target has a good selction of inexpensive tights (at least they did a few weeks ago). Bring the shoes with you and see what you can find to match.  The closer the color match, the longer your legs look.

I don't think I'd do black. It's your son's baptism and you wnat to look light and happy, right? aww

I wear skirts to church pretty often and I bare leg it all spring & summer. I don't think you need to wear hose to feel "proper" in most churches any longer (I'm Catholic and in Chicago so this may not hold true to other churches or for other parts of the country for all I know.)

I haven't worn hose in a long time. I do wear tights but I don't think that dress would look nice with tights.  If it is this weekend, I think the temps are suppose to be warm enough that you could go bare.

thanks so much, everyone!  ayo, i'd love to go bare but i feel like i would just be too cold!  i think the high is supposed to be 44 tomorrow, and i am already skipping a wrap or cardi (i don't have any that would look right).  thanks anyway though!  of course, if everyone says no on all the tight options i guess i won't have a choice - hehe!

i have narrowed it down to three pairs of tights that i like and am going to post again for opinions as soon as i upload the pics.  again, i sooo appreciate everyone's help!
