What to do with a black sofa?
Permalink Closed

I'm in college right now and I am getting my first apartment next yr. The couches are a hideous brown/tan checkered print so i wanted to put slipcovers over them. i was thinking about a black sofa, because i think it would look sharp. But i am worried the room would look too dark. To brighten it up, i wanted red and white pillows with some yellow around the room (flower, art on the walls). What else can i do with a black sofa? Or are there better suggestions for a good sofa color. Also...i wanted to buy a lot of vintage italian art (like the fat chefs, or italian cooking stuff)....would they match the black sofa/red & white/yellow theme? Thanks girls!

I think oranges, red and yellows look good with black. We just painted our living room pumpkin colored. We have a white sofa, two chairs that have golds, browns, greens and oranges and black furniture.

I thought the room was going to look Halloweeny ( which I would be okay w/), but it doesn't.

This is the coffee table we and we also have end tables similar.

We have black and white photos of Paris (mainly Eiffel tower) and the a few other framed posters.

I think the Italian cooking posters would match the colors you like. That seems to be the colors in the pictures I have looked at.

Me and my roommates are actually doing the same thing with the slipcovers! The thing is, we found a fabric at a fabric store we really like but we would have to have it made into a slipcover. Does anyone know where you would get couch slipcovers made?  The premade ones are so much more expensive and we cant find them in this fabric either, so we have no choice. TIA!
