Botox....

who's had it and who wants it?

I am afraid of needles completely....but being pregnant kind of helped that since i was stuck so many times.

I am 30 years old and can't help but think that it is too early to start.  I still worry about putting that crap in my body....but think that after so many years, it must be relatively safe?

One of my best friends is a dentist and got certified to do botox and will give it to me at cost....but still scared.....

would love to hear any experiences....

Me! I want it!

I will be 30 in April and want to get it done as my present to myself. Everyone is telling me I'm crazy. My family and DH are not supportive at all. My MIL is currently considering some plastic surgury and is an estitician so she is all for it.

Currently, I don't have any wrinkles, but I can see where the lines will form in my forhead and between my eyebrows, so I want to start getting it done now, so I don't get wrinkles there. I figure better to prevent almost completely then wait for them to start coming in and deepening to begin botox. I don't want to be a smooth headed grandmother or anything, I will slowly allow myself to age, just not at the pace that god intends!

I do it.  But I'm careful not to overdo it. the center of my forehead and crows feet are what I focus on.  I don't have glabella issues (the furrow between the eyes), so I can reduce my units by not having that area done. it's a really good way to preventatively reduce the depth of your wrinkles...

D, how does it feel after it's done? Do you feel it?

I've had good an bad experiences with it.  When I started doing it, an anesthetitian (sp?) in a plastic surgeon's office did it, and it turned out beautifully. It hurt a little, the the needle crunches as it goes into the muscle.  I went back in to get it done again, the plastic surgeon gave me the shots, and really did a number on me.  he was fairly brutal in giving me the shots and it felt like someone had a hand over my forehead. my eyes drooped, and it was a nightmare.  he also hit a vein by my eye and gave me a bruise.  needless to say, I haven't gone back to his office, period.

I now go to another plastic surgeon's office and an anesthetitian does it.  she's also an RN.  she does the numbing cream and is gentle.  I don't feel it at all with her. I can't say I love the results as much as my initial treatments, but she will experiment with me to see what works best for my face.  like, we will try a little here or there to see if I like it, and then we discuss whether or not to continue doing the experiments or try to do them a little differently.

in general, I don't "feel" anything when the botox has taken effect (except for that one time with the plastic surgeon.)

it's kind of like finding a good stylist...

I started having it done as well. At first I got the area between my brows and around my eyes, but honestly, I have almost no wrinkles around my eyes and I couldn't even see a difference, so I was like...screw it. Now i just get it between my brows to get rid of the frown lines.

You don't feel anything aside from the initial injections, but they numb it for me with ice and it's not bad at all. The results take a couple of weeks to appear.
