I think I may have posted back in September that I had been called to Federal jury duty...I was summoned to show up the same week I was due to have my baby. The Court would not let me off even though my doctor wrote a note.....
well I got lucky and a few cases settled and they let me postpone my service until february. Well, I went in last week to find out that I am "on call" for 5 weeks. I sat through 2 voir dire sessions and was stricken by the parties both times. I had to go back this week and sit through another voir dire session and I GOT PICKED!!!
This seems so crazy to me. I am an attorney, and in Oklahoma, I am not eligible to sit on a jury in state Court. But, the federalies (I've always wanted to say that!) don't care....and apparently neither did either party.
Of course I can't talk details yet, but this case has dragged along all week and we were told we would be there until at least tuesday.
YUCK YUCK YUCK YUCK.....and I know my bosses are totally pissed about it, and they can't do anything about it.
Anyway, just throwing myself a mini-pitty party. The case is totally boring, and I just want to be DONE!
Gawd, that sounds rough - it's ridiculous that they'd take an attorney IMO. Geez, you could influence the rest of the jury by actually explaining the law.
ugh! I'm so sorry, I cant believe how other people never get called for jury duty and for the 1st couple of 3 years after I turned 18 I got called 3 times! Thankfully I was dismissed. I never registered to vote until last year and lo and behold I got called! I haven't registered yet cuz I keep forgetting about it! I hope its all over soon for you and your bosses sake!
I can't believe that they would of wanted you to do jury duty when you were due to deliver, I can just see it now, water breaking right in the middle of the trial, haha! Glad you ended up getting out of that. And hopefully this one will be over soon :)
My sister is the only person I've ever known who was excited to get picked for Jury Duty. Now she's going to school to be a court reporter. Too bad you're already a lawyer... this could have sparked a new career interest :)
