Women's jean sizing. RANT!!

It's just ridiculous. Men get a waist and length measurement, but we just get even numbers? I was in the GAP yesterday trying on jeans and had to get all dressed and leave the fitting room 4 times to get different sizes. Of course the "helpful" sales associates don't hang out in the dressing room to actually get more sizes for you. Anyway, I ended up with a size 4 in one pair and a size 8 in another. It was such a frustrating experience.

I really have no idea what size I am. If somebody asks, do I just say..."well, I'm a 4 in BR, a 6 in Express, somewhere between 4 and 8 in the GAP...." It would be SO much easier to give waist and length measures. What's UP with that?

You know what you're right, I never thought of that. Must be some sort of industry conspiracy to rob women of their sanity. Plus, sometimes fitting that smaller size is flattering, so I am sure some women would be against this.

Thank You! I have been ranting about this for years. Especially the fact that they get a length measurement. It's just another reason for women to geel bad about themselves when they have to size up 3 sizes.

I feel you.  I hate shopping at gap though because nothing is ever sized right.

I know!!! It is so preposterous. My dad can just go to a store, find pants with his measurements, and leave! On the other hand, I have to try on 20 pairs of jeans in all different sizes!!!

The Gap is the worst, I just can't even buy pants from there. Also, the crotch is always way too low on me.

Why IS that? I have never understood why jeans have extra crotch room or the crotch hangs down so low!!! Do they think we need the room in that area? Cause I hate to break it to ya, but I'd much rather that extra fabric be spread across my ass than give room for my non-existent penis.

It's a depressingly male society we live in.

Gap has the worst sizing discrepencies. here is a prime expamle:  i have 2 skirts from gap --  jean skirt and pencil skirt.  the jean skirt (size 4) is 2" wider at the waist than the pencil skirt (size 6).

i always go into the dressing rooms there with 2 or 3 different sizes of each thing.

Sorry, but that made me LMAO!

I hear you, though, gruiz. My husband is a 34x34 in every damn store he goes into.  Pants, jeans, whatever! As for me, I am somewhere between a 0 and a 4. Even within the same exact brand (ahem...Seven!)  with the same cut and material, I wear one of 3 different sizes. It's maddening!
