What color shoes with this dress?
Permalink Closed

DH and I are going out to dinner tomorrow night, and I'm wearing this dress:
prodImage.ms?productCode=300942701&width=340&height=408
Normally, I wear black tights and black shoes with it, but I'm kind of bored with that look since there's no color.  What color shoes do you think would go with this dress other than black? Or, do you think I can only wear black shoes with it?  TIA!

Do you need to wear tights?  I've really wanted to wear tights w/ open-toe shoes but just can't quite get there yet.

As to your question I think yellow (the color of the moment smile) or red would look nice.

If you have to do tights, I'd try gray. I always feel funny with black tights and a colored shoe. With gray, I agree that yellow might look cute. Or maybe red.

I was thinking yellow too like Sibeski, but what about a yellow patent wide belt or something? I know a lot of people are into the colored tights thing right now, but personally I'm not into it.

ETA: I don't know why I thought you were asking what color tights, because very clearly the topic of this post was SHOES. Anyway, if you're wearing black tights I personally still would wear black shoes and a yellow belt. But do you need tights at all? If you're going to dinner, you're not going to have a lot of time outside in the cold to contend with (unless it's bitter cold where you are, or if it will be quite a walk from the car). Then you coud play around with your shoes more if you wanted to.

I really like how burgundy looks with black/white. if you had burgundy shoes and tights, I thing that would look nice...

Oh I've seen that dress in the stores. I would wear red if you have them. I think it would be a nice touch of color that would be noticed.

i think a grass green, yellow, or red wine color would be cute (no tights) and maybe a belt in the same color as the shoes.  if you do wear tights, i'd do black adn then an unexpected color like one of the ones mentioned in this thread.

I have that dress in a different print and it is very short on me (I'm 5'6"), so I feel it's my civic duty to wear tights.

It's neutral so most colors would look good - and I would say the same as Leah Leanna. I'm not used to black tights with colored shoes yet.

Colored tights and black boots (ankle or knee) would be nice too. If you stick with black tights/shoes you can add a bag or coat in a bright or deep color.

BTW I had the sleeve ruffles taken off because I felt they were in the way, and so I could layer jackets and cardigans over it. It also feels more office appropriate without the ruffles. Just a thought if you ever get tired of it someday!

Love the dress!

You've already gotten some great suggestions, but I did want to suggest purple tights with black or silver shoes.

ooohhh I like FP's suggestion of purple tights and silver shoes. I have a dress with a similar color palette and I usually wear black tights and wine/purple shoes. It's a nice unexpected way to add a pop of color, imo.

You can't really go wrong with any color combo though. I demand a follow-up on the decision!

Thanks everyone! biggrin I love the idea of purple tights and black or silver shoes, I wish I'd seen it before I left for work!! I decided to wear regular hose and gold shoes.  I'm only 5'3, so the dress comes down to my knees, I can get away with no tights or regular hose.  I tried on my red suede platform pumps with the dress, but it looked off to me. Burgundy would have looked better, but my pumps are *bright red.* Yellow seems like a great idea, when I get some yellow shoes this spring, I will definitely try them with this dress!
