so i'll be in NYC feb 25-28th.  i plan on going on a shopping bender.  is the barneys warehouse sale worth it?
i'd love to hit up a sample sale, but don't want to get hurt doing so...  i'm a sample sale virgin.

any other suggestions?  staying at the renaissance near time square.

Barneys might be scary for you!!! Usually people undress in the middle of the store, I have found that it is more organized than most sample sales and you can def find some decent Marc Jacobs, Philip Lim, DVF, etc etc. Prices arent dirt cheap but maybe 60% off retail. Worth a shot!

I think it can be worth it- will it still be going on then?  They are always bringing out new things and Fall 08 was basically given away so prices I'm sure will be low.
NYmag.com and refinery29.com also list lots of sales.  Are you looking for anything in particular?  Do you come in to the city often?

if you can definitely go to the barney's sale. things get cheaper as the sale goes on, and since you're going towards the end, there should be some good discounts. i would go on friday am since saturday will probably be crowded.

personally, i tend to bypass the contemporary brands at the sale and stick to the designer stuff.  i'm no snob, but i've found with some patience and digging, you can get amazing deals on great pieces (i.e. $50 balenciaga pants) and with the additional markdown it puts a lot of the designer stuff within my price range. have fun!

it said it would be going on till march 1st.  i don't mind the changing in the middle of the store, i just don't know what i'm doing, and i've heard it can get kinda crazy.  i picture it like a mosh pit of women with designer clothes flying in the air.

i get to NYC about 2 or 3 times a year.  i don't think i'm looking for anything specific.
