Hot rollers

Can anyone recommend a good brand of hot rollers? I used them years ago, but stopped. I've grown my hair out to shoulder legnth and would like to try a curlier style than I get with a blow dryer and round brush.

First ones I tried were Conair. They didn't work. Plugged them in and nada. So I hauled them back to the store and got Vidal Sasson Ionic steam curlers. Tried them. (They only heat one curler at a time, but it only takes about 5 seconds.) Hair came out looking very '80's. Half hour later I looked in the mirror and hair had straightenend out to the blow dry-round brush look.

I have fine, straight hair, but I have a lot of it. I followed the instructions.

Help!

I hope this doesnt offend.. but maybe it is your hair. Mine can get unmanagable sometimes and it seems like nothing works.. Every once and a while, it will curl as I tell it too. Also try different products..

As far as my experience, I have nothing bad to say about the curlers that you have already tried. They all seem the same to me. Although, I just don't remember ever seeing hot rollers of a higher quality.. come to think of it...

We have the same type of hair, and no matter what I try I always end up back with the hot rollers because it's the only thing that gives me some body. I think mine are revlon or conair ion shine, they're flocked with purple ends. They're the same ones the Queer Eye guys used on a girl last season, so I think they're pretty good.

Oh, and the eighties-look might be caused by the way you're rolling the hair. Try keeping them vertical next to your face and around your head (does that make sense), or twist the roller as you wind the hair for a softer look....

i have very fine, very thick, very straight hair that does not hold curl very well.  the only rollers i have ever found to work for me are the (get ready for the early 90s flashback) Caruso Molecular Steam System or whatever they were called.  I think it's because it uses steam and therefore your hair dries into that shape (like braiding wet hair).  The curls still would fall, but you could tell I had curled my hair all day, unlike any other rollers I used, with which the curl would fall out after like an hour.  Also, I got the best results when I was able to get someone else to help me with the back (Mom, roommate, etc.)...I always screw up the back on my own.  But I haven't used these rollers in YEARS.
