I just posted this in the "chat" section and thought I would repeat it here:
I know this is really random, but does anyone do this? My husband and I want to try it, but the only one that we are aware of is peapod, Giant's online grocery delivery service. There was an article recently in the Washingtonian about this and I thought it listed several different options, but when I pulled up the article on their website all I can find was Peapod, which got kind of a mixed review.
Anyone have any experience with peapod or want to recommend an alternative? Thanks in advance!
Don't know where you are located. But I use Freshdirect here in Manhattan.
I personally love it... Have been doing it since they started and I find it extremely convenient. The produce is always the freshest and the meat department rocks.
The only thing that I would complain about, is not being able to see the size of the vegetables you are getting. Sometimes I will order 3 onions thinking it will be enough, but I end up with 3 puny little onions and having to go to the nearest grocery store.
I second FreshDirect. I used it when I lived in NYC and it was amazing. The fruits & veggies were always awesome quality too (though I can see Joina's point about the size- it never presented a problem for me). I miss it!!!

i third it! when i lived in NYC with my best friend for a summer- she ordered from them and it was always great. esp. the produce!
i love fresh direct. i am sad about not living in nyc anymore. joina i do understand what you mean about the guess-work in ordering. most of the time i would either end up with a tiny beefsteak tomato that's more like "grape" size and then like a 8 inches of ginger root (who would ever need that much ginger?!).
