What do we think about putting a fireplace mantle in a room that does not have a fire place? I have always wanted a fireplace in my bedroom, so I was thinking about making it look like I do. Instead of wood burning I would burn candles.

I am not sure what I should do w. the wall behind the mantle. My walls are green right now, should I paint the wall behind the mantle. Any suggetions on how to make this look cool? I have an idea, but wanted your opnions. Thanks!

Ryan-

I found an oak mantel about 4 years ago in an antique store in the basement. I got a great deal on it and didn't realize it was oak until I started stripping it. I used a high gloss black and did a crackle technique so there is a little red showing through the black paint. I attached particle board from the back and painted that gray. It has a fireplace screen in front of it. I used some neat tiles from Home Depot in the center part where the bricks should go. I gave it to my husband for Christmas 4 years ago. He is going to take a picture and I will try and post it.
