Just thought that I would share an experience I had yesterday. . . Yesterday I went to the doctor because for the whole week my feet had been swollen and would not go down. Well, after doing blood work and everything coming back normal I was given a prescription for a diuretic(sp?) well that night my bf and I went to rite aid to pick up my prescption. Well, I was a little curious as to why 10 pills was $23 after insurance but I was like ok. So, in the car I decided to read the little pamphlet that has all the info on the prescription. Well, while reading it I realized that I had been given a anti-depressant which I begain to think was weird. So, I decided to read what it was used for and no where could I find that it could be used as a diuretic. So, I called that doctors office which confirmed that I was deffinently given the wrong prescription. So, after calling rite aid back I was given my $23 back but I did have to argue my way through why they owed me the real prescription for free. Well, through the whole experience I learned 2 things pay close attention to prescriptions when you get them and DON'T go to Rite Aid. The sad thing is the wasn't my 1st bad experience there. One time I went to pick up medicine and the pharmacist (same guy) was sleeping at the pharmacy. Thankfully there is a CVS right across from Rite Aid and I will be giving them my business back even though they made me mad before.
That is so incredibly dangerous. I wonder if there's someone you could report that pharmacist to. I don't know who that would be but filling the wrong prescription AND sleeping on the job is totally unacceptable.
I always check the prescription before I leave the store, just in case I have questions. Although, my pharmacy gave me a generic instead of my usual brand name and I wasn't sure if it was the correct prescripton, so I asked and they acted all offended that I would question it. You would think pharmacists would encourage you to ask questions and check their work. You could kill someone by giving them the wrong thing. Your story is so scary to me.
That's horrible! Pharmacists are licensed (or they should be) by the state. I'm sure you could find the state agency that regulates pharmacists online and file a complaint. I'd call the pharmacy and get his name and then report him, and I would also mention the time that he was sleeping.

I agree. Pharmacists can get in huge trouble for stuff like that.

I can assure you that Rite Aid will not get my business of any kind. They filled my dads perscription bottle with the wrong meds but with the appropriate lable. Well the meds they gave him reacted with his other medication and caused him to black out while driving and he was in a car wreck. Thankfully he was only going 20 mph b/c he was going around a curve on a narrow road, and he was ok. Rite Aid will never ever get my business. I am glad that you noticed before you took the meds.
Thanks for the heads up. I usually don't go to Rite Aid anyways. I had a similar problem with Excerds/CVS where they gave me the wrong pills! I looked at them and knew that those pills didn't look like what I should have gotten and I was right. Believe it or not I go to Walmart right now to fill prescriptions and haven't had any problems yet.
