OK, here's my first big hurdle with my trial veganism...
I am going to a wine party tomorrow. The group is called the Wine Rats, and everyone brings $40+ bottles to share as well as a dish to share.
Any recommendations on a vegan appetizer? Guac is a natural, but anything else? I would like to bring something that is perceived as gourmet, but easy to make. I know, tall order...

My go-to is falafel (already vegan) w/tzatziki sauce (easy to make vegan) and toasted pita triangles. But I think that sort of falls under 'street food', unfortunately! Veggie sushi rolls (easy-ish if you've made them before)? Bruschetta? Stuffed mushrooms? Salad/spring rolls?
Here's Mark Bittman's list of 101 appetizers in 20 minutes or less, at least some of which are vegan.

Bruschetta - so many possible toppings. Typical tomato/basil/garlic/caper, mashed white bean and sage, arugula pesto, olive tapenade, roasted garlic spread, or eggplant caponata if you dice the veggies small enough.
Or one or two of those spreads with water crackers.
I'm probably late, but I went to a tapas bar this past week and had some TDF crispy green beans with spicy roasted almonds that were great. The dipping sauce was also very good, but I can't remember what it was.
Well, I made the chick peas! However, there was so much food at this shindig, that they didn't get gobbled up. I did get complimented on them a couple of times though.
Since my friend who throws these parties would have probably just thrown them away, I tossed them into a baggie to take home when the party started to break up. We'll enjoy them while we watch Pittsburgh win the Super Bowl today
