Nordstrom Departments

I have a strange feeling that I have asked this before, but I don't see it on the search results.  Does anyone know if there are special meanings behind the different women's apparel departments at Nordstrom?  You know, like Point of View, Narrative, etc.

I can never remember which ones I usually shop because the titles don't really give me any clue.  The only one that I kinda get is Savvy (fashion forward or 'savvy').

Just wondering/curious.

I think it's just a way for them to categorize and for women wto always be alble to find what they want in "their department without sounding too classified. i.e. Narrative (i think is Plus size). BP (Brass Plum) sounds better than Juniors. Savvy sounds better than "trendy". Point of View sounds better than Suits and work clothes. etc. My faves are Savvy and TBD. TBD is kind of a bridge area. Casual and trendy clothes. More casual than Savvy and more expensive and grown up than BP. hth

Here's the breakdown from my perspective (I used to work there):

BP: juniors
TBD: early 20s to early 30s and all non-Mom denim
Individualist: late 20s and older -- classic "with a twist"
Savvy: higher-end on-trend designers (this department is the hardest to categorize, b/c it's everything from super "hot" designers to established designers like DVF who could fit elsewhere) -- if the store is big enough, the super high end stuff might be in the companion department known as Via C
Point of View: Less expensive classics and casual wear ("sportswear") -- what I see a stay at home mom wearing
Studio 121: higher-end classic career and retired lady clothes -- the companion department to this is Collectors
Narrative: often frumpy clothes, emphasis on dresses and coats
Encore: plus sizes

Here's Nordstrom's explanation:

T.B.D., which is their last department they added I think....they originally called it T.B.D. before they could think of a better name for it, but it stuck!

Thats pretty much totally right on , with the exception that now narrative carries some cute stuff. (so strange I know) . Narrative has cute Julie brown & abs dresses, occasionally gets fashion by BCBG, and now is the coat department too so they get some really pretty coats for fall.

I have a hard time getting excited about Nordstrom anymore - I think it's overrated and I'm bored with their merchandise.
