because my freakin' mail always has to be opened!  I just received back a package I had sent in DECEMBER!  It was a book I sold on half.com except the book wasn't even in there anymore.  They just sent me the empty envelope the book had been in!  I am so pissed!  I already refunded the buyer in January, but I think I am more mad now that they would send me the envelope without the book than if they just never sent me back anything!

I realize that when you send media mail it can be opened, but does it have to happen EVERY time?  And can't they ever just open it, decide it's good to go, and send it to the destination?

This is the 3rd time this has happened to me as you may know from past posts.  I already stopped using media mail, but I am still feeling the effects of when I did.

It's too bad there's no real competitor for the US post office.  When I spoke to the PO manager last time, he just told me I'm SOL and they could do whatever they want with my mail if I send it media mail and they don't have to refund my shipping or anything.  I wish I could be like, "oh yeah? well from now on, I am taking my business to another post office!", but I really have no choice.

I can't believe the problems you are having with the post office and media mail.  I have never had a problem and I've used it for years.  I would definetly try another post office and see if it helps. It just sounds strange the way your stuff is being handled.  I don't understand the whole paper in a book issue.  I do it all the time.  Are you sealing your packages and addressing them there? Maybe try not doing that (do it at home)? I'm at a loss.
