I usually try to book through the website actually. I was just reading in one of my budget travel mags that hotels really do care that you book through a discount site and will treat you accordingly. It sucks, but apparently that is what happens.

I was just in Vegas, and I went through the hotel website, and that was the best rate I could find actually.

I used orbitz the last time we went to Vegas. It was a last minute thing on a holiday but they were still able to get a room for me at the MGM Grand for $70. It wasn't the Bellagio, but we were only in the room for 3 hours. No complaints from me! I have also used Travelocity, but twice I have reserved a double bed room for 4 on there and wound up getting to the room and being told it was only a reservation for a single bed for 2. Luckily I had my printed confirmation to back me up. If you do book from a discount site just bring your confirmation because the info seems to get screwed up somewhere between either them or the actual hotel and if you have proof they will be more willing to honor that agreement. i've had good luck getting good rates directly through the mandalay bay's website, and the aladdin's.
