Cat had a seizure

I don't have any experience with it but I can ask my vet's wife if she has any suggestions for you. She is really good with cats (she should be she has like 10!). Anyways next time I see her or my mom does we'll ask.

My cat has seizures...I would say about one a month, but they seem to have gotten less frequent lately. Anyway, what happens is she'll fall down, be unable to move, and lose control of her bodily functions. After about a minute she'll get up, be sort of disoriented and confused and then be perfectly fine a couple of minutes after that. I've noticed that before she's about to have a seizure, she gets this incredible burst of energy, flying around the house like a maniac.

She's young, though, about 2.5 years old, but she's had them for at least the last year and a half. The vet said there is medicine we could give her, but as long as she's not hurting herself, she's in no danger from the seizure itself. The only danger being if she falls down the stairs or if she's high up on something when the seizure begins. Since she's not the type of cat who would EVER take a pill of any kind, we're just letting her be. She hasn't hurt herself yet, my only concern is that she'll take a tumble down the stairs. That may be more of a concern to you since your cat is older.

It's really heartbreaking because you can't explain to your cat what's going on, but the vet assures me that my kitty doesn't remember any of it and is perfectly fine. Let me know if you have any other questions...

Thanks for you info. The cat is fine now--and what you described is pretty much happened to her. I hate to give her more medication. As it is, I have to chase her around the house to catch her to give her the kidney stuff.

Darn little critters. You know they aren't going to live that long, but you get so attatched to them.

I'll take her in to the vet this week. She's due for another blood test anyway.

I had a cat that had kidney disorder and she would have seizures now and then. My vet said it was from the kidney disorder. If you are present when she is having a seizure it is best not to move her unless she is in danger of falling or hitting her head on somthing hard or sharp. then move her onto somthing soft.also you did not mention it your post ,but do you have your cat on a special diet for her kidneys, if not this may help reduce the risk of seizures.
