Within my immediate area: Yeah I really want to go to Atlantic City. I can't think of anyplace else in the area that I'd want to go to at this time of year.
Within the US: Probably to LA so I could visit the various cool people who live there. Or to Seattle so I could finally get a look at the Koolhaas library.
Outside the country: Hmmmm right now I wish I were hanging with my friend in France because he said it's really warm and he spent hours sitting in an outdoor cafe today. Since I'm already going there in a few months, my second choice would be to go back to Japan or to Russia.
Within my immediate area: Probably Boston or Deer Isle. I've wanted to go to Deer Isle ever since readig about it in Travels With Charley, but I'd want to go to Boston just to go to a city.
Within the US: Hawaii, San Francisco, or New Mexico. I want to go somewhere west cost-y and possible warm.
Outside the country: I really really want to go to Madagascar, Greece, and Cuba.
my family has a place in destin. i love it there. most people from chicago have never heard of it, though.
i would go to door county which is around here.
i would love to visit friends in san. fran. and go to some wineries.
and i am dying to go to spain and italy.

Within my immediate area: Probably LA for a shopping trip. I have been dying to visit some B&Ms to try on stuff I have been eyeing.
Within US: I want to go to NYC so bad, also I miss Boston and San Francisco. I have great great things about Alaskan cruises. Hawaii wouldn't be bad either
In the US: NYC to visit my best friend; DC to visit my other best friend; Vegas because it makes me happy; Maui because it's my favorite place on Earth; and Napa Valley and Chicago because they are 2 places I've never been and want to visit.
Outside of the US: Bermuda, Fiji, Greece, South Africa, Hong Kong
within my immediate area: Reno, San Fran, or home to the Monterey Bay
within the U.S.: Georgia (I've heard that Savannah is beautiful), New York, D.C.
outside the U.S.: Italy, Spain, France, and Germany and oh yeah I know this is weird but I'd like to go to Finland (I did a report on it in 6th grade and have wanted to go since then)
If I could take a trip, right now, like there was a Lear jet just parked and waiting for me (except for the local - that's in driving distance), I guess these would be my choices at the moment:
Within your immediate area: Ontario, Canada
Within the US: New York City
Outside the country: Bali

I just visited Finland a couple of weeks ago (it's my home country) and will go there again this summer, which is definitely the best time of year to be there. But right now...
Within your immediate area: Cape Cod
Within the US: New York (every chance I get!) and Hawaii (always wanted to go there)
Outside the country: London (shopping!), Dublin, Edinburgh, and Australia
Within your immediate area: Urrr... yeesh. I dunno - If I wanted to, I'd just go. I think I'll stay put. If I HAD to go somewhere within an hour or two, maybe I'd go to Baltimore or Annapolis. Within about 4 hours I'd head to Philly or NYC. Except I am going to NYC with a friend in two weeks anyway.
Within the US: I'd like to check out South Beach. San Francisco makes me happy, so I'd def. go there. Or skiing somewhere out West. Or maybe Austin. I wish I could have gone to SXSW..... And I am always happy to go to Santa Fe, but I'll be there in a month.
Outside the country: Paris (I could be happy being in Paris any time!) Except I am going to Europe this summer, but I wish it were summer already! I am always game for Europe.
Generally, if I feel like going somewhere, I find a way to go!

shopgirl- I have a 2nd home in santa fe I bought last summer, so just so you know it is SUPEER doable. If you need a realtor, I can recommend mine VERY highly, so just send me a message if you want her info. She is one of the tops in Santa Fe, and also just a very cool (and chic!) person whom I now consider to be a friend. Aside from actually looking at homes, we did everything from 2000 miles away here in DC, and I could not have done it without someone as on top of things as she is.
I can also recommend a great rental agency and a property manager & housekeeper, etc, if you choose to rent your place out.
And if you need somewhere to stay in Santa Fe, I am happy to offer you a discount on our vacation home! (http://www.casa-sonrisa.com). Not to be pushy or anything! ANyway, feel free to drop an email with any questions about having a 2nd home in Santa Fe...
