dogs!

I am so excited!!! After three years of nagging, my Mom(who is also my landlord) has relented and agreed that we can get a dog. We would like to get a rescue dog or SPCA dog, under 50 lbs and good with cats. I realize that it may take awhile to find one that is suitable.

I know this is jumping the gun a bit yet, but does anybody have ideas for names?

My bf and I are getting a puppy in June and I want to name him Benecio, but my bf has vetoed that name.  We have decided on George instead.

I love the idea of a dog with a totally human name.  I think it is funny:).

I like funny dog names. My good friend named his dog Nuisance. It sounds so funny, and she sure lives up to her name. I have met dogs with the following names that I think are cute & funny: No. 9 (that's right, "number nine"), Sharky, Cash (as in Johnny Cash), Bonita, and Chops. You might want to wait until you have the dog for a few days before you name him/her. Let the personality show and a name will probably come!

I think you've gotta find the dog before a name, LOL! I have always wanted a dog named Hemingway, though.

OK, I edited the above post twice and it is NOT appearing! I HATE Macs! (I'm at work.)

Anyway, I also wanted to say that when you're about 1 month away from getting your puppy, contact a rescue organization and let them know what size/age dog you're looking for -- they can help you find the perfect one. They have lots of programs that save dogs from kill shelters and put them in foster homes. They can tell you a lot more about the dog's temperment/behavior in a "home" setting.

Anyway, good luck & I can't wait to see your new doggy!
