I have had my BMW for a year and a half, and my maintenance issues with it have been nil. I have just brought it in for its annual oil change, and that's it. like ShanKel, all my maintenance stuff is included in the warranty i got, which was 4 years, but I plan to get another car before then. I have been really happy with my car and the service I have received from my dealer.
And like detroit, I did a lot of my negotiating over e-mail and fax. My real name that I use for official stuff, it's hard to tell if I am male or female, so that helped a lot. I did a LOT of research, knew my stuff and what I did and did not want, and I had a check from my credit union. I got a great deal on my car. It was the first time i had ever negotiated a car. Since then, I have also helped my best friend and husband get a car for great prices too.
I had a BMW conv and it was a lemon. Bought new and the dealer here in Atlanta sucks...sucks...sucks...the top broke all the time, I would have to get out to pop the top so it would go down, then once when someone pushed the seat back really far while napping on a road trip, well it wouldn't go back up.
Now on the other hand you may think that I am the only one with this problem, but my previous car was a BMW 3 series and it sucked too! Nothing really horrible except the engine deciding to stop while I am driving....yeah I had good luck with BMW! I seem to be the only one who ever had problems so I am not sure why, they were both from 2 different places. Who knows. Just a word to the wise.
I have now have a C class Mercedes with an 8 year warranty and it is awesome. My only thing is I miss having a converitble.
Sorry for all the negativity there I think beemers don't like me! That is the prob! Hope your luck is better! If you choose one!
