dry skin + acne = what moisturizer?
Permalink Closed

This post is actually because of my brother.  He is 17, and breaks out but has dry skin.  This is different from my skin so I have no advice to offer him.  I told him to put on moisturizer (being in high school, he doesnt do that kind of stuff haha) but he is worried he will break out more.  I know certain moisturizers are ok for very acne prone skin...any suggestions?

I have dry skin on my nose (of all places...) and oliy skin on the rest of my face. I use Shiseido Pureness Moisturizing Gel-Cream myself every night and morning and it really really helps the situation. I also like DDF Ultra Lite Oil-Free Moisturizing Dew. The consistency of both moisturizers is very similar, kind of watery but creamy at the same time.

You can also try using a moisturizing gel, if his skin isn't terribly dry and he just needs general hydration.

hi bebegirl020,

i use cetaphil moisterizers. i use the lotion type during the summer and the cream type in the winter.

they're great for acne prone skin, even when it's oily, just like mine!
you can get it at any drugstore for a reasonable price. ($8 -$15)
i've been to a number of dermatologists and spas, they all recommended this product.

i've been using this product for about 3+ years now and would never use anything more expensive because i get soft skin everytime.

I use clean and clear morning burst moisturizer and haven't had any problems. I put on my acne creme first and then the moisturizer next and it works fine.  Just look for a moisturizer that is oil free.

I use a Vitamin A cream from a health store and I have the same skin type too.  Hope that helps!
