mine are the "manaos" pattern from crate & barrel.  they have a nice selection of sets that are good quality, modern-looking and not expensive.  i think the whole set cost me around $100.

I bought some Onieda from Target (they sell it everywhere) in a satin finish with a little bit of polished stainless steel for contrast, and it's done wonderfully. I was afraid that the "satin" would scratch, but it hasn't after 5 years (and my husband isn't gentle with it either, if it was going to scratch, it would have by now)

crate and barrel seemed to have pretty affordable stuff -- i'm not sure about quality though. (i have been looking too.)
