hey everyone - i picked up these boots at the nordies shoe sale today - they were $59.  i've never owned a pr of rainboots and figured now is a good time to get some.  i'm undecided about whether to keep them or not.  i *think* i like them but need confirmation (or not).  specifically, i'm thinking they would be a kind of unexpected basic (despite the un-basic pattern) but are they just eh??

so, keep or return??

sorry but i forgot how to post the pics!  if someone could remind me or post the pic that would be great.  thanks in advance!

I think they're super cute and I've actually thought about buying them in the past. The pattern is really classic and the colors will go with a lot. I have a pair of black and white houndstooth rainboots that I've had for YEARS and I wear them all the time in the rain and snow. I actually put a pair of Ugg insoles in mine and they keep my feet super warm, especially in the snow. I can see how you may be undecided if you haven't owned rainboots in the past but I think that you'll be really surprised at how much you use them, especially if you live somewhere where
it snows.

Edited to add that I tuck my dress pants into them and wear them to work all the time and on weekends they're great with skinny jeans or a denim or corduroy skirt and cute tights.

Maybe it's just me, but they kind of remind me of construction caution tape.

I think it depends on where you live? I bought a pair of black non-de-script ones last year on sale. Dh thought I would never wear them in So. Cal - but it ended up raining A LOT last year so I got a lot of mileage out of them. Not sure so much if I'd be able to wear those KS boots with all my work clothes (but it's super cute).
So I think if you want to look cute - get them! But if it doesn't rain much where you live and you'd have to plan your outfits around the boots every-time it rains - I'd pick a more neutral color or print.

thanks, everyone, for the advice.  i live in dc and will be moving to turkey in about 7 mos (and it rains there).  i am a SAHM but i occasionally work from home.  rain boots are not a necessity for me now, but i think it would be nice to have them.

the only thing i'm not sure about now is that they do not seem really comfortable (but maybe that's b/c i'm comparing them to uggs) and they seem kind of heavy.  are all rainboots heavy?  i like the idea of adding ugg insoles to them, twinkle star, maybe i sould do that.

oh and they're navy not black -so i would probably wear them mainly with browns and greys.  thanks again and feel free to keep the comments coming:))

All rainboots that I've had have been pretty heavy. I have some cheapo ones I bought from Filene's Basement and just bought some new Hunters and they're equally as heavy. I mainly put Ugg insoles in them because when I walked on snow my feet got freezing but that definitely helped a lot with the comfort/coziness factor, I don't find any footwear as comfortable as Uggs! I also commute by subway and have a 10min walk to the station so I wear them a lot. I just throw my dress shoes in my bag. If you spend most of your time in a car you may find that you don't use them as much. However that said, they should last forever so there will probably be multiple times that you pull them out of the closet and are glad you have them! Also, I wouldn't have any qualms about wearing navy with black, I think it can look really chic.

How exciting that you're moving to Turkey!! I've heard such wonderful things about Turkey.

Thanks, twinkle star, that's very helpful!  i used to take the metro when i worked FT (before i had kids) and i really could have used those boots then.  i'm glad i have them now though.  i tried on some hunters too and thought they were really cute, but more than i want to spend right now so i think i'll just stick with the KS.

thanks for the tip on navy with black - i'll have to try it some time.  i've seen it and liked it on other people i just haven't tried it myself.  oh and thanks also for the encouragement on living in turkey - we're excited!
