What to wear to San Francisco?

I am going to a conference for work on March 15th in San Francisco.  I believe it will be in the low 60's there.  Should I wear spring clothes?  I live in NJ and have been wearing winter clothes because it is FREEZING!

you should wear layers because sometimes you can get cold one minute and then hot the next. it never gets super hot though, but people wear skirts out at the first sign of any sun, even thought its still pretty breezy and cold. but since youre from new jersey, you'll prolly be able to take the breeziness. if you wear a skirt, i would wear layers on top, like a cardigan. have fun in sf!! its a beautiful city P.S. it gets pretty chilly at night and foggy sometimes.

It's been raining on and off here, but it's supposed to be warm this weekend (around 70). I would definitely check the weather when it is closer to the date you are coming. Definitely bring layers.

Layers - cardis and little jackets over camis, jeans, etc. Careful with stilettos, etc - the hills really are steep.

I was just in San Diego this past week and I was in San Fran last spring (it was May, but still not all that warm) and it really was all about layers.

Transitional clothes ought to be fine, but go too summery & you'll be pushing it.

Try looking in the "thread style" and see what the west coast gals are wearing - that helped me for San Diego.

I don't think I will be doing a lot of fun things in SF.  I think it will mostly be the conference and at night it will probably be all the people I work with doing stuff together.  I need to look professional, but suits aren't necessary, nor will they be worn by my higher-ups.

Can anyone give me some examples of business clothes to wear in San Francisco at this time of year?  No suits though.  It would really be a waste because I don't wear them to work.

Karina, the new job is going well!

For business clothes, it really depends on how formal/informal your office is. In my office, men are typically in suits but women have a lot more flexibility. When I go to work, I wear slacks (black, gray, chocolate, etc.) with button-downs, fitted sweaters/cardigans (but nothing too cutesy), or blouse-y shirts. I used to wear heels, but now I stick to flats or kitten heels b/c I take public transportation and do a fair amount of walking. When it's cold (which it usually is, at least in the morning) I wear a jacket or coat. I have lots of 3/4 coats that get tons of wear. Basically I would say it's the same as any other place. Think BR and Jcrew (which unfortunately is not my preferred places to shop). People say we wear a lot of black over here, and I guess that is true. I hate wearing black and rarely wear it when I'm wearing casual clothes to school, but I find myself wearing black often to work.
