My boyfriend and I are looking for cool day trips to take this summer. I live very close to the Ohio line, so I we could go to either Michigan or Ohio. I just don't want anything that will take more than 4-5 hours to drive. We are looking for outdoorsy, hiking, or educational kind of things to do. We do Hocking Hills a lot and I really love going, but we are just looking for something new. Cool places to canoe, or hike, or museaums. What do you got? Thanks!

A closer trip, and right across the street from me is Cranbrook house/gardens/art museum - and Birmingham and Somerset Mall are all within a couple of miles....
And you can't beat Greenfield Village - I'm sure you have already been there several times (they do have a vintage couture exhibit March - July http://www.greenfieldvillage.org/
I'll post more as I think of things...

RyanJ, I am 20 minutes from the Ohio border...where abouts do you live? I'm by Toledo. Oh, okay, Traverse City is AWESOME! Great shopping (lots of vintage, but then there's current stuff too like juicy etc), they have a cherry festival in the summer, and Mackinac (sp???????) Island is close by, and that is just one of the prettiest places I've seen and I've been around the world! If you have not been there, it's a MUST! HTH! I heart Michigan!!!
haha. the cherry festival...i've been to that. it's so much fun. i love going to the wineries, going shopping (with a buzz!!), dinner, and then out for drinks (one night we went to the casinos). my boyfriend and my first "vacation" was to traverse city so maybe that's why i love it soo much. we've been in jan. and july...so it's fun year 'round.

I am in Lambertville- about 5 mins from Toledo.
I really love Mackinac. We usually go there in the spring and fall. It so great. The Cherry Festival is a good idea. I have not been there in along time.
